Wholehearted: A Coloring Book Devotional Paperback – February 29, 2016

Okay so I love this book I just got it and I am planning on using it for a Women's Bible Study group I am starting as our first book and it is just about perfect! As per the headline it is smaller than I expected which I am actually super happy about I thought it was going to be borderline "too big" for what I personally prefer. I have no ruler unfortunately to give any help but the product dimensions are listed above I know.I have two things I think would make it better:1. Perforated tear out's for the coloring pages2. Smaller margins around the devotional part giving more room for larger font sizeThat being said:1. I love that the coloring pages are blank on the back so if I want I can take them out and hang them up as reminders around the house without removing any of the devotional from the book2. The font size isn't small (It is probably equivalent to like a point 18 Times New Roman)I love the simplicity of it. It speaks directly and uses Bible verses in such a way that what they mean is portrayed accurately (The context of each verse is not given but unlike other devotionals I have tried in the past this one doesn't change the contextual meaning to fit the author's point)I love the simplicity of the art as well. It is enough to color that it has a calming elegance to it without being overwhelming for perfectionists like me.The reflections are good. Since I am planning on using this as a group study book I was worried that the reflection journals would be difficult to tailor to sharing in a group dynamic but I think it is going to be wonderful. For example one I am really excited for asks you to set a one minute timer and write out every anxiety you have that you can think of in that one minute, I am excited that with it written this way as long as you are willing to put in the 1 minute you have to write down more than just surface level things but also because room is left for all depths of answers you can choose what to talk about.All in all I am so excited to share this book with the other Women in the study and get to go through this with them!

As I have purchased and reviewed the Premium version of other of this publishers books, I'm certain that the paper in the spiral-bound version of the book is an improvement over what the paperback.This is an excellent devotional guide which can be accomplished in 30 days (as the writer suggests) or at your own speed if you prefer to save out the time you spend in devotional study.The format of the book alternates between one day of suggested tasks and prayers to the next day of coloring. That amounts to fifteen days each of both formats. Each day is prefaced with cited verse of Scripture and the task/coloring relates back to that verse.Each day has a page of verse and then the author shares her personal thoughts and experiences which relate to the verse. Then, you either follow the tasks or color the design depending on which day it is.I found the course of study to be of immense personal use for me. It seemed as if the entire book had been geared towards the issues I have been facing. The stories that the author tells are heartfelt and the suggested tasks are ones that, while I found a bit emotionally challenging, were ultimate rewarding for me.The coloring was just a small part of this book and the designs are geared to and highlight the Bible verse. Each of the drawings can be accomplished in a day.For coloring purposes, the paper in this book is white, thin, slightly rough and non-perforated. Alcohol and water-based markers bleed through. Gel pens and India ink leave shadows of color on the back of the back. Colored pencils work well (both oil and wax based) but hard lead pencils can leave dents. I use a blotter page under the page I am working on (both coloring and using a pen for writing) to keep ink and dents from marring the pages below.

I love this 30 day devotional (it actually is laid out for 32 days)! It has about 17 illustrations you can color that are varied and each one is a nice design. The designs are just complex enough to take a few minutes to color, but not eat up an hour. Each design relates to the devotional on the previous page, so you can stay focused on the devotion. I like that the coloring pages are separate from the devotion because you can give your coloring page to someone and not lose your devotion, if you choose to share. I like writing an encouraging note on the coloring pages and then giving that page to someone. For the pages I choose to keep to myself, I like to write a prayer on the coloring page. The days without a coloring page provide nice lines to write your devotional responses and prayers. In the very back they have inserted lined pages for notes. Each day has a page with the verse for the devotional and you can add illustrations of your own if you desire on this page (the devotion is on the back of this page). I use Sharpies to color most often and have noticed they bleed through just a bit. Overall, I would say this devotional was thought about a great deal based on the way it is laid out and the way they anticipated people would use it. I really enjoy using it and will be sad when it is finished.

Great little devotional but very little coloring to be done.

With all this Bethel nonsense out there. It is wonderful to have Godly people still writing. Very Biblical and solid. Joel Olsen would not agree. With this. That's why I love it

Thin, great journal, smaller then expected for the price.

I like the devotional itself, but I was expecting more pages to color. I am not good with calligraphy or bible journaling, which is why I bought this book. It has a lot of blank pages (I assume those are for your own Bible art), and I just wasn’t expecting that. If it had more coloring pages, I’d give it 5 stars.

Really like the daily journal and scriptures. The pictures, the you can colors, are a lovely touch.However, the paper stock isn't as heavy as I thought. Color from the pencils bleed through. A little disappointing but it's still a nice purchase.

I bought this and the Psalms in Colour. The latter is better, in my view, than this book which doesn't have that many designs to colour and they are all a bit same-y. Lots and lots of leaves!

Beautiful devotional book. It was a great introduction for me into devotions, with some beautiful picture to colour in aswell.

A beautiful book of devotions that prompts mindful connections and journal as well as colouring to help meditate on God’s word. I love the spiral binding as it makes it easy to write and colouring in. I wish there was a whole series of these books!

This arrived used with someone else’s hand writing in it.
