A very useful, if somewhat bland, overview of the Gastric Sleeve experience
This book is by Alex Brecher, the founder of BariatricPal, one of the biggest bariatric patients' online resources. Brecher was an early Gastric Sleeve patient, and also early to see the big bucks that could be made from supplying information and support to other Sleeve patients. I don't point this out to be negative -- in fact, this is one of the better books out there, and I do recommend it, especially to those who have not yet had the operation. The requisite information is there, and this will certainly help you to understand and prepare you for your operation. What it lacks, however, is passion. Information is presented in a rather repetitive, dumbed-down way that will not suit all readers. The guidelines are also somewhat formulaic, even generic."Everything You Need to Know to Lose Weight" is the subtitle -- but one essential thing is left out, and that is a very important thing: inspiration. Without inspiration, your gastric sleeve journey will be long, slow and tedious. My own preference is for Dr Duc Vuong's Ultimate Gastric Sleeve Success: A Practical Patient Guide to Help Maximize Your Weight Loss Results , also available on Kindle, which has plenty of information AND inspiration. That is a book I still use, half-way through my own gastric sleeve journey -- whereas the Brecher book is no longer of any use to me.Still, a decent introduction which merits 4 stars.

The Best Gastric Sleeve Guide Out!!!!!
I like to start my review by saying this book is absolutely great. A very close friend of mine who I care about dearly decided he is going to get the gastric sleeve, not knowing much about it, I did a little research and found this book. I want to be there for him from beginning to end so I needed to know the entire process, after reading this book I learned just about everything. I learned not just about the sleeve, but about the economic, financial, and personal problems obesity creates. This book contains the answers to just about any questions anyone has on the process of deciding whether the sleeve is right for you, whether you make a good candidate, which surgeon to choose, how to prepare for the procedure and much more. I am happy I purchased this book and gained the necessary knowledge to be there for him.I also made my friend read it and he evenly learned more about the sleeve after doing countless hours of research on his own.

Great info, poor editing
This book seems to have all the information one could need when considering the gastric sleeve surgery as well as information for life after the surgery. I found it to be quite informative regarding issues of emotional/mental readiness, good and not so good side effects of the surgery, possible complications and how to avoid them, and post-surgical care and diet. There are only two things wrong with this book. One is that the often mentioned bariatricpal.com website doesn't seem to exist, and two, there are many, many examples of poor editing that become distracting to someone like me who expects a published book to have perfect grammar, spelling, and punctuation. I would love to edit it myself! Still, it is overall a very helpful and informative book.

Amazing Book to Buy if You Are Considering the Gastric Sleeve Procedure
This is a remarkable, comprehensive book on the gastric sleeve procedure. I am preparing to have this procedure done and the author explains everything step-by-step from the initial planning of having bariatric surgery, pre-surgery considerations, potential complications, post-surgery and post surgery potential complications and hopefully, ultimate success with the gastric sleeve procedure. I also like that he has excerpts of people who underwent the surgery and their feedback on the surgery. He stresses the diet plan that many surgical centers recommend for gastric sleeve patients and how to deal with minor discomforts after surgery. Perfect book, I am so happy with my purchase.

Very Informative Book
This book contains a world of information for VSG patients. It starts from the very beginning when sleeve surgery is just a thought all the way to your first year after surgery. With so much information in between. It is a great book to have as a reference guide. Highly recommend it whether your thinking of the sleeve surgery or you have already had the sleeve.

Incredibly informative!
I came across this book after reading the “Big Book on the Lap-Band” from the same authors. That book was fantastic and this one proved to be just as informative and helpful. Coming to a decision to get weight loss surgery is not something to be taken lightly. I need all the facts and reliable advice. Fortunately this resource is one that has helped me figure out my options and know everything to expect. It’s written in easy, plain english, for us non-medical types. Like their other book, I’ve got this on my iPhone via the Kindle app and I’m taking it everywhere! I need to make a decision soon and fortunately this resource was here to help.

Great informative read!
Very informative book. I read it before I had surgery, and it helped tremendously. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I wish I would have bought a hard copy instead of an online version. Would recommend to anyone thinking about getting the sleeve!

Everything that you need, want to know (and some that you don't) about this procedure, Very clear, straightforwardand comprehensive. It is a bit difficult to admit to "loving" a book like this, but I would definitely recommend it to anyoneconsidering a Gastric Sleeve.

Most of the info is before surgery
It is a great book for people who have questions and concerns about having sleve surgery. 3/4 of the book is pre surgery and after surgery. Since I have already had the surgery over 9 months ago, alot of the book..and Its a BIG book, doesn't pertain to me and my situation. I would recommend it for anyone thinking about sleve surgery.
