J.R. Liggett's Shampoo-Original Old-Fashioned Bar - 3.5 Ounce (Pack of 3)

A few months ago we ran out of the regular shampoo and went to the store to buy some more. Unfortunately, we began to look at the ingredients. From animal products to petroleum based products, we couldn't find anything we would consider using. After a thorough look on the web, we accidentally came across this wonderful solid shampoo bar that sounded simply excellent. We ordered a bar and quickly found out that not only is it smaller than the big plastic jugs of petroleum, it works better! No leftover stench, no rashes, no itching, no brittle hair, no super dry hair, no oily hair. It just works. Here's some stuff you should consider: 1. This is an old fashioned shampoo with all veggie ingredients 2. Forget the "lather, rinse, repeat" instructions from the oil/shampoo companies who just want to sell more stuff. You only need to shampoo once, unless you are an auto mechanic who gets grease in your hair 3. You need to get one of the wood soap stands so the shampoo bar can dry out properly between uses; otherwise, it will disappear far too quickly. The wood bar stand will gain you at least twice the lifetime for each bar you use I love this stuff! I wouldn't use anything else. We've been led astray for so many years by soap companies, few of us have any sense when it comes to buying shampoo. Forget everything you have learned about shampoo and go for these bars. They are really great.

I bought three of these bars a couple months ago and I still haven't used up my first bar. They last quite a while especially since when you stop using chemical packed shampoos you don't have to wash your hair as often. I wash mine every 4 to 5 days. At first I was skeptical about going "no shampoo" but now I'm happy I did. My hair is healthier, thicker, easier to manage, and I love that I'm no longer washing tons of chemicals down the drain. Plus I no longer have to use conditioner. My hair has a completely different feel when I finish rinsing in the shower, it no longer feels thin and/or slimy. When it dries it feels amazing and stays that way for days. My hair is thick and very curly so it does take me a few minutes to work up a good lather but it's completely worth it.

I decided to give bar shampoo a try, and did my research before making this purchase. In my research, I noticed that most had sulfates in them which negatively effects color-treated hair -- except this one, J.R. Liggett's. After the very first use, I decided I will not buy or use any other shampoo. That's how much I like this stuff! Not only is it practical (compact, no plastic bottles to recycle, or liquids to worry about when traveling), but it lathers well, adds body and shine, makes my hair more manageable, and it keeps my hair color looking fresh. I highly, highly recommend!

I *really* wanted to like this- but this particular shampoo bar didn't leave my hair clean for very long. The other brand Ethique gave my high hopes for shampoo bars but only came in small sizes. I bought a 3 pack of this thinking it would be even better, and it's really not. If you are considering this as way of buying in bulk to save money, I'd advise trying a sample first. My hair feels clean but it's more squeaky and stiff than normal and it gets tangled without conditioner. Then in less than 12-16 hours my hair looks visibly dirty and clumpy. I have shoulder length hair, dense but fine in texture. This is okay as regular soap I guess but that's not what I wanted or was paying for.. I reccomend Ethique brand shampoo bars instead bc my hair was clean for almost 2 full days when I used it. Also the smell is okay but it's sort of.. old lady ish? Like rose potpourri. Its mild but not amazing either.

After reading the rave reviews, I bought three bars of this shampoo as we will be traveling to Spain and Portugal and liked the idea of no liquid containers. This shampoo bar is such a huge disappointment. It left my hair dull and gummy feeling. It was so bad that I couldn’t run a comb or brush through it. I use a barrel brush blow dryer and could not run that through my hair either. My hair felt dirty all day. I was really hopeful this would work so I washed my hair a second time and rinsed very well with the same results as the first time I used it. Since I have three bars I’ll use it in the shower as body soap.
