Super Impressed
UPDATE May 18, 2024: As I stated in the original review, this is a fantastic timer and the seller’s customer service is impeccable. There is, however, a major consideration that should be taken into account about the suitability of this timer for your particular refrigerator. This timer will NOT work in all cases. The product description has an image (the source of the photos that I have attached) that clearly shows the configuration that this timer is designed for.If the freezer thermostat is electrically positioned between the timer and the compressor as in timer-->thermostat-->compressor, then this timer will function properly on your fridge. If the freezer thermostat is electrically behind the timer as in thermostat-->timer-->compressor, then this timer is NOT suitable for your fridge. In this configuration, each time that the thermostat cuts out, the timer’s cycles are reset and the cooling cycle starts from scratch. This means that the defrost cycle will never activate (unless the thermostat remains closed and the compressor runs for the entire duration of the cooling cycle’s 6, 8, 12, or 24 hours which is highly unlikely). In this configuration, your refrigerator will behave as if it has no defrost heater at all and will freeze up the evaporator. You can see photos of the two configurations and decide whether or not this timer is a good fit for your refrigerator.Original Review:I am super impressed. I chose this timer because it is electronic and, therefore, I expected that it would NOT make that audible clicking sound that the mechanical timers always make when switching between cooling and defrost cycles. But I am more impressed than I expected I would be.First, the timer couldn’t be easier to set and operate. It is physically a straight replacement for the original timer on my fridge, and the ability to set different intervals for cooling and defrost cycles makes it a better option than the original mechanical timer’s fixed durations. The timer that I received must’ve had some kind of manufacturing flaw that caused it to be confused about the durations set by the dip switches. Thinking that maybe I was not clear about what to expect from the device, I posted a question about the behavior of the timer. I received an almost immediate response from the seller, “Long Term Control”, with suggestions and statements of support. I followed their suggestions and through a few quick back and forth messages, it became clear that the timer potentially had an issue. Long Term Control then indicated that they would send a replacement timer to solve my problem. I received their last message at 6:58 PM. I received the replacement by around 3:00 PM the following day! That is barely over 20 hours later! To say that I am impressed by the service and support would be an understatement. This was incredible, and I am very grateful. The replacement timer has been installed and functioning as one would expect.I only have one suggestion that hopefully the manufacturer will take into consideration. The various cycle times that are selectable by the dip switches on the device are displayed on the back of the timer. After installation, the chart on the back is no longer visible to aid in the setting of the switches to change the times if desired. Having the chart on the same side of the timer as the dip switches would make more sense. I made a tiny chart of my own and attached it to the timer on the right side of the switches as you can see in the photo.I think that you will be happy with this flexible timer, and you will definitely be happy with the seller Long Term Control.

Helpful features for working on an old refrigerator
The LEDs let you know it is working and allow manual test of the defrost circuit. The included circuit diagram helps if the connection requires a small adjustment to the circuit. My last job required making a wiring change, but it makes the refrigerator easier to service.

Doa
Didn't work out of the box. Causes the compressor to shudder. Waited to long to send back

Works on old school 300 series Sub-Zero Fridges
Direct plug-in replacement for my Subzero 300 series (I'm talking old school 1980s) refrigerator. The freezer was frosting up and not getting cold because the mechanical defrost timer wasn't working. We used to hear a constant clicking (when it worked) then it stopped so that was our clue. I was thinking I was somehow going to rewire this to make the pinout work but didn't need to bother. We're happy campers!

More affordable
Fit as needed, shipped on time. But detailed instruction sheet for determining switch settings should be enclosed with. Good value.

I was looking to reduce my defrost cycles and this does it
I was looking to reduce the amount of food waste and energy consumption due to the twice-daily, lengthy defrost cycles which came with my top freezer refrigerator. I had no idea how easy to was to change to this timer. In my case, it was six screws to remove a cover plate and unsecure the timer. It took 5 minutes. The setup for the timer is child's play. There are many options and you can figure out what would work best in your scenario. My indoor air is very dry, so I don't need a long cycle due to moisture. I don't know how much energy I've saved, but even my wife admits that food is lasting longer and there has been no freezer burn!. For the cost of destroyed piece of meat, you can improve the performance of your freezer.
