The 'seal' in the lid is just a round 'insert' that is somewhere between plastic and Styrofoam.Not sure these would hold up well to repeated freezing.Good deal if you just want them for dry goods, though.(Might be fine for filling with goods at a Farmer's Market, too.)

May Make You Want to Use Pinterest
I've never been a fan of Pinterest but these jars are so adorable, and give me the appearance of being organized, that I might have to suck it up and start posting.I purchased these in order to store small amounts of food in a way that didn't look ghastly to others. Sure, I could throw things in ZipLoc bags, take up tons of space by using original containers, etc. but I like the idea of using these jars much better.The chalkboard labels and white marker they include with the package was a nice touch. The labels are cut out in cute patterns to give that "I make everything from scratch and do yoga five days a week" vibe. The marker will stay as bold as you write your final label as it was on your first. While you're at it, just paint your house in chalkboard paint and use the marker to draw all over the place. I'm pretty sure it'll last that long!All in all, I'm happy with my purchase and when I run out of this batch, I'll be sure to buy a couple more. Now, what will I store next? The possibilities are vast.

To cold-soak hikers: This beats them all
If you're here because you're looking for something lighter than Litesmith's or Talenti cold-soak 16oz jars; this one weighs (w/ lid) at 49 grams each. That's 5g lighter than the Talenti.Easy to clean and leakproof too.One downside compared to the Litesmith: the mouth is not quite as wide. But wide enough.
