Must have hiking backpack!
I recently purchased this Osprey Talon 22L Men's Hiking Backpack, and I couldn't be more pleased with my choice. This product deserves a solid 5-star rating!! This is my first Osprey backpack, and it left a remarkable impression. The level of support this backpack provides is truly outstanding and it fits me perfectly. It's designed to comfortably carry the weight and essentials needed for a day hike, and it does so with ease. The 22L capacity provides ample space for all my day hike essentials, and the quality of the bag is exceptional. I have a 3L Platypus Big Zip EVO Reservoir and I was able to fit it in perfectly without any issues, ensuring I stay well-hydrated during my hikes. The hip belt pockets are a fantastic addition, perfect for conveniently storing snacks or other small items you want to access quickly. The side pockets for water bottles are also a great feature, adding to the convenience of this backpack. I must also mention the strong and durable zippers that give me confidence that this backpack will last for many adventures to come. What makes this review even more special is that this backpack accompanied me on my trip to the Canadian Rockies, making my hiking experience in the Canadian Rockies truly unforgettable. Overall, I absolutely love this backpack!! :D

perfect all-purpose backpack
I used the women's version of this pack (the Tempest 20) for years; it's still perfectly functional, but quite worn after lots of hiking and traveling. I picked up this one last summer before moving abroad, and I couldn't be happier with it! It serves as my everyday laptop bag, hiking pack, and personal item for travel. It's lightweight but super sturdy - aside from the logo wearing off, the pack is still in perfect condition after close to a year of daily use. It's spacious enough to work as my only bag for 3-5 day trips but still fits under any plane seat, and the harness system and back panel make it comfortable for long travel days and long hikes. I recently picked up the 33L version to tackle the Camino de Santiago this summer.

Great Fit & Quality
I was looking for good quality day pack that is very comfortable to wear across all the seasons. After doing a ton of reasearch, I went for the Osprey Talon 22L and have been thrilled. This backpack is incredibly well constructed and designed. The adjustable shoulder straps and hipbelt are very comfortable and the back panel is very breathable and keeps you cool. The storage compartments are ample and the zippers are very durable. This is an excellent quality pack and I would highly recommend this brand and style. Before purchasing, just be sure to use Osprey's guide regarding sizing. I went for the L/XL and it is very comfortable. Cheers & Safe Exploring!

Great quality, VERY comfortable, but terrible design for water bladder.
We took a trip to 9 national parks a couple months ago, and used 4 different backpacks for a dozen or so hikes. These are the packs we used: this one (Osprey Talon 22), an Osprey Hikelite 18, a Gregory Swift 15, and a Mountainsmith Clear Creek 15. Although they were all very comfortable, this pack was the most comfortable. But, it had the worst water bladder holder design, by far. It's a great pack other than this, but after wrestling to get a 3L Osprey bladder in it, I was left wondering how this passed the design phase. Just the weight of the filled bladder caused the top of the pack where the clip secures, to greatly deform. Very funky. None of the other packs had this issue. The Osprey Hikelite 18 has a MUCH BETTER bladder holder design. It was the best of our 4 packs. Given the cost of this pack, and the fact that it did not come with a bladder, I would not purchase it again. I would have no hesitation to purchase any of the other 3 packs we used, again. For those wondering, as far as water bladders go, Osprey was the only one of the 4 we used that smelled and tasted horrible, even after multiple lemon juice washings. Gregory had the best water bladder design, in my opinion. Even the much cheaper Mountainsmith was better than the Osprey. The quality of these Osprey packs is excellent, but so were the Gregory and Mountainsmith, for much less money, and no hassles in getting the water bladders in and out.

The Backpack That Can Carry Your Dreams (And Snacks)
Okay, folks, let me tell you about the Osprey Talon 22L Men’s Hiking Backpack in Eclipse Grey—this backpack is the real MVP of my hiking adventures, and quite possibly the best decision I’ve ever made after choosing to wear socks with my sandals (don’t judge). If you’ve been waiting for the ultimate blend of comfort, utility, and the ability to make you look like a seasoned adventurer, this is your backpack. First off, the fit is on point. I’ve got the Large/X-Large size, and it feels like this backpack was made just for me. It hugs my body like it’s giving me a supportive, gentle back massage while also providing enough room to carry all the essentials (snacks, water, emergency snacks, and a jacket I’ll never use but might need). The hipbelt is a game-changer, because it takes the weight off your shoulders so you can walk around like you just spent years mastering the art of hiking without any actual effort. The design? Oh, it’s sleek. It’s Eclipse Grey, which sounds like something you’d hear in a high-budget sci-fi film. It’s like a “cool guy” backpack that says, “Yeah, I’m here to hike, but I also look like I belong in a mountain-climbing magazine.” The zippers glide so smoothly that I almost thought I was opening the door to Narnia—no resistance, just pure magic. Now, let’s talk compartments. I have enough space for my lunch (read: protein bars), extra layers, a first aid kit I hope I never need, and one thousand tiny pockets that I can never remember the exact purpose of, but I’m convinced they hold the secrets to the universe. Whether it’s my phone, wallet, or trail mix, everything has its place. This backpack practically organizes my life. The real magic happens when you’re climbing up that steep hill or trekking through the wilderness. You know that feeling when your backpack feels like it’s weighing you down, making you question life choices? Yeah, that’s not gonna happen with the Osprey Talon. It’s designed to keep the weight balanced, leaving me wondering if I’m secretly part mountain goat. Bottom line: The Osprey Talon 22L is an absolute must-have for anyone looking to hike in style, comfort, and convenience. It’s durable, reliable, and makes me look like I know what I’m doing (even if I’m just walking to the local coffee shop). 10/10, highly recommend! It might just make you the coolest person on the trail.

Lightweight and Versatile Hiking Backpack with Great Comfort
I recently purchased the Osprey Talon 22L Men’s Hiking Backpack, and it has quickly become my go-to for day hikes and outdoor adventures. Design & Fit: The sleek, stealth black design is both functional and stylish, and the S/M size fits perfectly for my frame. The hip belt and adjustable straps distribute the weight evenly, making it incredibly comfortable, even on longer hikes. The AirScape back panel offers excellent breathability, keeping my back cool during intense activities. Storage & Organization: For a 22L pack, the storage is impressive. The main compartment is spacious enough for essentials like a jacket, snacks, and water, while the multiple pockets—especially the hip belt pockets—make it easy to access smaller items like a phone or snacks without taking off the pack. The external hydration sleeve is a great feature for those who need easy access to water. Performance: The lightweight design doesn’t sacrifice durability. The pack holds up well under rugged conditions, and the zippers and materials feel sturdy. I’ve used it in various terrains, and it’s versatile enough for both casual hikes and more challenging trails. Final Thoughts: The Osprey Talon 22L strikes a great balance between comfort, storage, and durability. It’s perfect for day hikes or light travel, and the ergonomic design makes it easy to carry for hours. Highly recommended for any avid hiker looking for a reliable and versatile backpack.

Great fit, great adjustability, very comfortable
This is a 4.5 star review rounded up. The bag is not perfect, but for my needs it’s close. The main compartment is easy to access and feels larger than 22l would suggest. The hip pockets are generously sized and mostly easy to open and close. The under-arm pole carry system is fantastic, although i do wish there was a better secondary carry for putting them more out of the way. It carries weight extremely well. I tested about a dozen bags in this category and found most of them either dug in or pinched at the straps up at my neck/traps, or the hip belt would ride up with movement. The talon was the easiest to adjust to the correct torso length and once dialed in i didn’t feel any pressure from the straps and the hip belt stayed put. It carries weight extremely well, with less bounce than most other packs i tested. I recently took it on a 10 mile winter hike loaded to about 15lbs and i had no issues with pain or fatigue like i did with my previous pack. As a bonus, even though it is not a waterproof bag, despite hours of hiking in snowing conditions it stayed mostly dry. My only complaints are: the reservoir hanger is osprey-specific. I had tried another talon 22 in a different size that had a much better generic clip style hanger and was disappointed to find this one was different. The strap pocket is a nice idea but poorly executed. The way it folds over onto itself to snap closed really limits what can be put in there. I found a chapstick tube to be about all i could comfortably fit. And the reservoir sleeve, while nice to be kept separate from the main compartment, has a very narrow opening, and is not easy to get a full reservoir inserted. It’s also permanently open at the top and i can see debris getting in, although i haven’t had that issue. In summary, compared to the dozen or so other 20-25l bags i tested, the talon is the most comfortable, best fitting, best at carrying weight, and best features of any of them. I can live with the few annoyances I’ve found.
