Mmmm. Delicious
This cookbook was obviously written with love and wit. It's an enjoyable read even before making any of the delicious pasty's.We tried the Cheese, Mushroom and Leek Pasty. Yummm. I didn't know british food could taste so good.I especially appreciated the clear directions. I have, in the past, had trouble with other cookbooks for similar baked goods - they come apart, or they turn into little bricks in the oven. Not so these recipes. They came out warm, flaky, and delicious!Well done!

Make Your Own (and Better) Hot Pockets
I like the idea of the small meat or vegetable filled pastries for a quick meal, but find the commercial offerings such as Hot Pockets to be pretty tasteless with meager fillings and few choices plus the problems with artificial additives and preservatives in many commercially made foods. I've been looking for recipes to make something similar at home, with little luck until I found this book on Cornish pasties. This book gives not only the industrial strength traditional recipe for Cornish pasties dough and filling in both metric and American measurements, it goes beyond that by giving a recipe for a lighter version of the pastry shell as well. It then goes on to give a nice selection of fillings including both savory, main dish types and dessert fillings. The ingredients lists and instructions are clear, complete, and well written. Even a novice baker should have little problem following the instructions and coming out the other end with an enjoyable and tasty product.I've found exactly the type of recipes I was looking for plus several ideas I didn't even know I needed. Asian filling, Apple and Walnut filling, Pizza filling, Ham and Swiss filling and more. There is also a handy section with conversions from metric to American measurements.Highly recommended.

Great book!
I visited Cornwall with my family last summer and we all absolutely loved Cornish pasties so as soon as I saw this book I had to get it. I already knew you could get pasties with a number of different fillings (been there, done that, got the tee shirt!) but I had no idea you could get dessert pasties too. This book has recipes for both main course and dessert pasties so you'll be spoilt for choice. Not tried it yet but I will definitely be giving Banana & Chocolate Pasty a go - sounds divine! If you like pasties I highly recommend this book.

How To Make Cornish Pasties The Official Recipe
So far, I have made 1/2 of a batch of the U.S. Translation Cornish Pasty dough. The dough was very easy to do, and it turned out very well. It isn't pie dough, and it isn't bread, but something in between and flaky and good, and quite sturdy, but not tough. The pasties are very good either hot or cold. A link to the website is included and I like going there to watch the Cornish Pasty video, although I have not managed the crimp yet.Geoff gives you a variety of recipes, both savory and sweet and these should be enough to get you started, as well as enough to give you ideas for tailoring fillings to your likings and dietary restrictions, which I have to do since I can't have potatoes, and many other common filling ingredients. It's also helpful to know that you can freeze leftover dough and filling as even half a batch can provide too many pasties for one or two people.Geoff writes very clear and easy instructions, and he's got a nice sense of humor. I can recommend this book.

Eat them in Cornwall
I love all things British. But these are most likely best eaten in Cornwall to appreciate them. Only a miner could be hungry enough to love these.I followed the recipe to a tee even rendering the lard. The dough is like a hot water pastry and definitely holds the filling well The egg wash makes them look fake. A lot of work goes into them and the amount of veg and beef is too much for the amount of dough. I ended up making a small pie with the rest. I could try the flaky pastry and the other fillings, but then it’s just an empanada The book is a nice little gem, however.

Nom, nom, nom
Excuse me while I make a loud excited squealing noise!Okay. Done. This is a fantastic recipe book. I normally buy pasties because I did not have a good recipe. I am a great lover of pasties and will travel three hours by bus to a British pub to get a fix. (Each way, and yes, I mean it. I love pasties despite them being slightly bland and boringish to many people. I find them divine.)This booklet is well written, directions are carefully explained. There is even a bit of history about the Cornish Pasties. Several different versions of the recipe are included, as are sweet recipes.Well worth the price. This is going to save time on the bus! Pardon me, I must go make enough to fill my freezer with these yummy meals.

Cornish Pasty recipes
Haven't actually tried any of the recipes yet but the instructions are pretty straightforward and the recipes sound delish. I was looking for an authentic Cornish Pasty recipe from the UK and this little booklet ticks all the boxes for me and then some with a variety of recipes (e.g. ham, swiss cheese and asparagus pasties) plus a lot of dessert recipes! Also tells you how to make the original pastry and flaky pastry too:)Very nice but only a tiny booklet so if you're looking for a big recipe book you won't find it but if all you want is a few genuine Cornish pasty recipes this is your book:)
