One part of a vast improvement
My bandsaw is vastly improved after a few upgrades and about an hour of tuning. The cool blocks took just a few short minutes of that time and were, I'd say, a necessary but not sufficient portion for my saw. They work as advertised and it is nice being able to simply tighten them to the blade without worrying about the precise gaps. Along with these I also upgraded to a 'blade guide double bearing package' off the auction site. No connection to Bill, just a happy repeat customer. I mention it here because it was the convocation that made my saw work great after seeming a near basket case. As you can't the a Shopsmith bandsaw the way you do others - different tracking system altogether - I followed a few long and detailed threads on the Shopsmith company's forum. Wow! What a difference! Getting the blade guide to adjust up and down right was critical. Any one step helped but with them all done my saw runs wonderfully well. It is worth getting these and spending the time to do the rest. At a minimum, get these. Super easy improvement. Hope this helps.

shop smith band saw works like new.
Used this on my old shop smith band saw cuts are much better. Called my brother he said to use post it notes as the gap for these and as always older brother knows. Ripped two in half stuck post it(s) to blade. Pressed these flat to blade smashing the post its and snugged them down. Rolled notes out of the way and removed them. Did the same on the other two blocks and it cuts like a great band saw.

Better Tracking
When I use the cool blocks, I can set them so that they just kiss the blade. That way blade deviation is nearly zero, and I can not only do more accurate cuts, but even with my 1/4 " blade, re-sawing with a fence is nearly perfect.

Fits Shopsmith bandsaws.
Just installed these on a Shopsmith bandsaw. they work MUCH better than the 35 year old steel guides and are much quieter. They are also required for use with 1/4 blades and smaller. They were a direct replacement and took less than 5 minutes to switch them out.Since buying these I found a better product made out of ceramic. I wish I would have found those before buying these. Oh well, these work pretty good and I'll keep them for a while.A better alternative is to ditch the guide blocks all together and go with bearing guides by Carter. But since these are about $100 cheaper then the bearing guides I'm happy with them. They work fine.
