You can also adjust the bandwidth which enhances AM performance and acts like a base/treble tone adjustment. FM sound is thicker/punchier in D5 but a little muddy. The only advantage of the pr-dw4 is it has weather alert which is ok but i have been woken up at 2 am too many times for weather alerts especially for maritime weather that doesn't even effect me. The pr- d15 has better speakers, has a 200mm ferrite rod on par with the GE super radios and is the obvious choice for what you're looking for.
