I last bought these over a year and a half ago. I guess I don't use my printer (Brother MFC-255CW) that often because I didn't replace during that whole time, except for possibly the black one. I ended up throwing them away when I moved out of my apartment because I didn't want to risk them leaking out and staining things or ruining the printer, but they still worked and had some ink left in them. They DO LEAK when upside down or in any tilted position, out of the heads, so don't ever try to move or pack up your printer with them inside. Wrap them up in cellophane and stick them in a zip-loc bag or just throw them away and buy new ones. That's an issue with them that I don't believe the OEM ones had. But at this price, it'll still save you money even if you throw them away.I had a few printing issues over that time, but nothing a inkhead cleaning didn't end up fixing. They do dry up over time. This is NORMAL with ink cartridges, especially since these aren't airtight, so you will notice ink level readings go down over time even if you don't use the printer. But even in my case, they still lasted a long time with minimal printer use.I'm ready to buy these again when I set my printer back up. As long as you take precaution to take them out when you move the printer or to not spill them, they work great.

When I first received these I was so happy because the original Brother ink is just too expensive for my income. I caught the dickens, not trying to get them into my printer, but getting them to show up on my monitor status. They kept showing up as empty for almost 2 days, and they do it periodically at random. When they do that my printer won't print any text. I love the price, but I think its all they're worth. I'd rather pay the expensive price for better quality and that is what I will do in the future.The above was my first review last year (2010), February. "NOW" it is September 2011, and I MUST change my review because I had the first impression blues about these ink cartridges. Over a year later, I am just getting the prompt from my printer that the ink is low, "17 MONTHS LATER" & even though my monitor status for the ink levels never did show up correctly, ink lasting this long (as much as my family prints) is a BLESSING! I am a home school teacher so I print a lot of documents. I have also printed a lot of photos to send to relatives out of town. I have a teenager who prints constantly, yet we still are just running out of ink.I apologize for not giving this product enough time to show me what it is truly worth, but I would DEFINITELY buy this again, and recommend it to everyone.

I've always purchased brand name ink cartridges from office supply outlets and hadn't been too concerned about cost, since my employer reimbursed the expenses. Now that I pay for my own office supplies and having read favorable reviews, I decided to try a generic cartridge to save money. They were easy to install  4 Pack (1 Black + 1 each color) Non-OEM Ink Cartridge for LC61 Brother (15.5mL Each Cartridge) DCP 165C MFC 250C 255CW 290C 295CN 385CW 490CW 585CW 790CW 5490CW 5890CW 6490CW and have performed flawlessly. I started with two 4-packs and just ordered a 12-pack for about the cost of one branded cartridge. I would have rated this product 5 stars, but haven't had enough experience yet to award the highest rating. I'm confident the remaining cartridges will perform as well as the prior.

Just put the ink in this week. The printer recognized it fine and so far it prints fine. I only had to replace the yellow and cyan, so will update about the black and magenta when they need replacing. Only complaint is that the cartridges are not the ones pictures above. I chose these cartridges because the picture looks exactly like the OEM cartridges for my printer. Other generic products I checked looked nothing like the OEM cartridges. The ones I received were the right size and shape, but they basically look like they're missing the plastic cover that goes over the cartridge. All in all, works fine (so far) but different product than the one shown.

Thank you so much for the items. I have not had the opportunity to use any of them yet as the computer came equipped with ink cartridges. I ordered them prematurely, but I am sure that they will do just fine. Everything is good.

I have the MFC490CW printer and (once I got them installed) I've had absolutely no issues with the print/ink quality. I did have SOME issues with the black cartridge when I went to install it; I'd insert it into the appropriate slot but the printer wouldn't recognize that I'd added a new cartridge. However, after taking it out and putting it back in a few times (varying how far I pushed it in) I finally hit its "sweet spot". Overall it took about two minutes for the black compared to only 15 seconds for the colors. I would have given it four stars except that the price is ridiculously lower than buying true Brother cartridges; it's 100% worth a bit of fiddling to save forty dollars.

So, I must admit I was a little hesistant to buy this product. I usually pay $30 dollars for black ink alone, not including the additional $20 something dollars for the color ink. To be honest, I hadn't purchased ink in a few months, just didn't want to spend that kind of money. I was able to get all four colors for $8.19 (shipping costs included). In my mind, I was like no way this will work...I guess I can waste $10 dollars. To my surprise, it works!!! Absolutely works great. Color and black ink...I'll definitely buy this again...great buy for the money. Just an fyi: I have the MFC-490CW model...I may just go ahead and stock up...
