Kickstand Tabletop Chalkboard - 13"x9"

This is another gift I bought for my Mother for Mother's day. She is a crafter and brings her wares to shows so I thought this would be a nice little table top easel to write and sales or specials or little notes on it for her craft tables. It's the perfect size for that sort of thing. The day after Mother's Day I received an email with a picture of a a note she drew on it that said "Love it. Love you". I looked like the chalk moved well across the board and had a nice color and line to it. This is a slate board and not the fake boards that wear off over time. It's a great little piece and the price wasn't too bad.

This stand up slate chalkboard is well made and fits in nicely with my rustic decor. I bought it so I can leave a message for my grown children when I leave the house. They often arrive unannounced and wonder where I am if they do not find me at home. This board appears to be real slate and I like the little ledge at the bottom where I can put some chalk. This is just what I was looking for. Thanks for carrying this item Amazon! Leaving messages on scraps of paper on the counter was not working well. They were easily overlooked and magnets don't stick to my stainless refrigerator. This little stand up chalkboard is an attractive, fun solution for message leaving.

I really want to give this a higher rating because it looks amazing but I received my chalkboard with parts of the wood broken. The wood also seems to be of a very low quality. I had to repair the broken parts with glue and it looks a bit better now but having to repair a brand new product is disappointing. EDIT: The folks at South Street Designs were kind enough to replace my slightly damaged chalkboard without any prompt from me at all. It arrived rather quickly as well. The chalkboard really is wonderful and given the great customer service, if you're on the fence, just give it a try.

All reviewers mentioning the textured surface of the actual chalkboard are spot on. It may make writing on the surface a bit difficult, but I actually like the texture. Unfortunately, other reviews about the overall shoddy quality of the product are also accurate. Mine came nicely packaged with protective plastic and styrofoam, but that didn't stop the top portion of the frame from popping off. This is the top portion that is connected to the third standing leg in the back of the board and so whenever I try to stand it up, the top frame pops off and the whole thing collapses. Noticed the dried wood glue that obviously didn't do its job. I'll have to use some wood screws to the secure the top frame. Also, the wooden lip near the bottom of the board isn't level. Definitely has a handmade (by a schoolkid) look to it. 2 stars. *UPDATE* [2017-06-21] The seller reached out to me and sent another chalkboard to replace the one which arrived broken. Threw in some chalk pens too which was very nice. Bonus points for the care and effort of reaching out and trying to rectify the issue. I really hope they up their quality control game. The materials are not bad at all. It is a nice looking piece, just the assembly portion needs to be rethought. I run my own business as well so I understand that it is not easy. Hopefully they will work out all the logistical kinks. Wish them the best. +2 stars.

This a cute and perfect little chalkboard. I purchased for my desk at the firm I work for. It is the perfect size to put on the corner of my desk and not take up too much room. It's also the perfect size to write a good size message on. I love the materials that make up this chalkboard as well. It is real slate and the wood it a nice color and finish as well. It's the perfect touch for any desk or counter space. You also cannot beat the price for this great of a chalkboard easel.

I'll be honest, I shopped around for a better price on Amazon. These were what I wanted, but I needed 4 and couldn't justify just buying without the research. Well, I am glad I bit the budget breaking bullet and bought these. They are not only straight up gorgeous, but they are also erasable when writing with liquid chalk and sturdy! Everything I wanted. The only downside is the rough surface, so your writing gets a bit wonky. I think once you figure out how to write on them, it's not noticeable though. Most chalkboards have rough surfaces.

I bought 5 of these to use as signs for my wedding. The overall look of them is super cute and I'm going to keep them, but the actual chalk board part is oddly light and it has weird ridges (all 5 of mine have this so I'm assuming it's just the material used to make all of them). I can tell that it will be difficult to write smooth lettering on them, but I'm going to try! I'm going to use one of those liquid chalk pens to hopefully help keep the writing smooth, I would recommend staying away from regular chalk for these chalkboards.

I read lots of reviews before buying this chalkboard sign. The one I received had a nice, smooth surface. I did coat it in chalk first even though the instructions said that wasn't necessary. I have only used it with regular chalk and it works great! I don't have chalk markers so can't review on how it works with that. The chalkboard I received was very well put together, seems very sturdy and is perfect for my use. I have been using it to countdown the days until school starts on my mantel. Now that school is starting, I'll be using it for quotes of the day. It is a very nice size without being too big or too little.

I love this chalk board. I bought it to use for my engagement party and also ended up using it for my wedding as well. It was the perfect size and easy to write on with chalk markers.

Really good frame for practical use as well as decoration. I love the real wood with knots and chips, and the chain at the back is super secure. It also comes with a chalkboard at the back too (that you dont see in photos) easy to clean and use, no bubbling. Over all great purchase :D
