Review: Partly useful
Review: First of all I'd like to acknowledge how difficult it must've been writing and editing (although they might've skipped this bit) a textbook during COVID-19. That being said there are MAJOR issues with book. Firstly it is FULL OF MISTAKES; I have never come across an educational textbook with so many errors in it. Some of these are simple typing/editing errors but some are much more insidious and are actually factually incorrect. This is absolutely unforgivable in a book like this; some of the stuff in this book would actually lose you marks in the FRCS (Urol). Secondly many of the questions seem to be far too niche and/or deliberately misleading (i.e. Chapter 18 Q8); you could argue the importance of the anatomy of the ovaries and uterus for the average FRCS Urol candidate. What you can't argue is that it is FAR less important than the anatomy of the kidneys, penis, prostate, bladder, ureter etc. etc. I do know how representative these questions are of the actual FRCS (Urol); I was struck by how little reference there was to NICE or EAU guidelines. I would say approach this book with EXTREME CAUTION, or better yet save your money and get Jack Donati-Bourne's Essential Revision Notes for the FRCS (Urol); a far superior text in almost every way. I must say considering the editorial ensemble I am staggered at how bad this book is.

The WORST thing an FRCS book can have is mistakes throughout the answers section. We all know only a professor in each specific field would know the answers to some of these and us trainees learn this stuff by wrote. Therefore, when we come to use the answers and find out we're 'WRONG' only to do further reading and discover it's a mistake it makes the book worthless and stress inducing. What a SHAME - the people who wrote this are top of their game which is why I bought it. Some answers it's difficult to check if you're going mad or not, because your revision notes say you're right but the answer and explanation don't make sense. I wish I didn't buy this.
