The quality was pretty good, and idk if it's always the case but I got the actual Microsoft branded cable.

High Quality
From the build of the cable to its output, this is a well-crafted cable. The clarity is impressive and its colouration is vibrant--tested on a Samsung HDTV.The cables are really thick even where they separate, and the ends are gold-tipped.I can scarcely think of any other component cables I've ever seen that look and feel so sturdy. There is one little thing to be aware of about these though;there is no SDTV/HDTV switch like there is on most Xbox 360 cables like this.As far as I can guess, that switch would've activated or deactivated a progressive display.(Why in the world these cables needed that, I don't know--the Playstation, Wii, and every DVD player ever don't...)Though this is probably not a problem for most people, this means you NEED an HDTV to use this cable, or perhaps an SDTV capable of progressive displays (if that even exists) because the Xbox 'senses' the cables and automatically turns progressive. Of course half of the fun of these cables are higher resolutions, but sometimes people get these just to read the gosh darn text on modern games--so tiny...!I just about returned these cables but kept them at the last second when I overheard a relative wanted to get rid of an HDTV--which means I could use these in the future. Right now I'm at college, stuck with an SDTV (but one of the best I've ever seen thankfully--a Sony Trinitron, '96 I think...?). Already having component cables for my Playstation 2, I didn't think this would be a problem, but I think it'll work out anyway. This cable certainly looks to be an even higher quality than Microsoft's alternative (with the SD/HD switch and composite leads on the side), which is why I picked this set. Ironically, I probably should've picked the other...

I CAN READ ON MY SDTV!!!!!
I bought an xbox 360 solely to play Final Fantasy 13. To my excitement, the game and system showed up in the mail on my birthday. To my disappointment, I could barely read any of the game text on my 27" Phillips SDTV. Not willing to buy an HDTV, I thought it was going to end up being a waste. This cable saved the day. Most are talking about this cable as only being beneficial for HD. This won't by any means give you HD picture on a SDTV, but the picture is dramatically sharper and the text is easy to read. Most SDTVs don't have component hookups,(you can tell by the red, green, and blue colored slots), but if yours does, this is a must buy. It made the games I want to play playable.I should also comment on some folks complaining that the HDMI slot on the back of the unit is covered by the jack of this cable leading them to not be able to get dolby digital to their receiver. The cable has an outlet on it (at least the one I have does) that allows you to connect an optical cable to your receiver. For sound, HDMI is no better than optical unless your talking about the "lossless" formats available for bluray or the now defunct HD-DVD. Unless you have the HD-DVD capability on your xbox (not even certain it even had the codecs for the lossless formats), the inability to use HDMI for sound is a non-issue.

The real deal. OEM and new.
They are genuine Microsoft Xbox 360 component cables, new and sealed in the bag. These are the first edition component cables, which also had a composite cable in addition to the switch for standard definition or hdtv. Some people here have gotten the newer ones that didn’t have the composite cable. Anyway, the cable works great and the price is great! Recommended.

I can at least say it works…
With the console being almost 20 years old I was not expecting to get a “new” cable. I was not however, expecting pins to be very bent and tarnished… I’m thankful that the cable at least works as advertised.

For a Genuine Microsoft HD AV Cable for under $7, you can't beat it!
I ordered this fine product from BuySPRY for $6.99 with free shipping, and I can say that it is the best purchase I have ever made. I received the cable 3 days later so I can't complain about slow shipping. I opened the package and the cable is wrapped in a green eco-bubble wrap which is great because it protects the product as well as being green. On the cable, there is a little switch that will switch the cable from TV to HDTV, so be aware when you are switching to higher quality. I tested the cable on my Westinghouse 32 inch LED TV which is capable of 720p at 60 Hz.Turn your TV on. Once you plug the cable into your Xbox, make sure the switch is on TV. Now move the switch on the cable to HDTV. The Xbox will now re-boot and the TV will go black. Once the Xbox re-boots, your TV may just have a black screen. Don't worry, it took a little bit of how to change the setting. On my TV remote, there is a button called YPbPr. I clicked that and the display switched and the Xbox home screen appeared. Now go into your Display Setting, and set your resolution to your liking. I choose 1080i, then lowered it to 720p because it kinda lagged on 1080i.Hope that my review helped you pick this cable for your Xbox.Note: Interesting enough, my TV can run 1080i, which is above of its max resolution of 720p. Weird.
