Nice desk. Easy build. heavy.

Just put this together this weekend, by myself (female, mid 40s) and it was pretty darn easy compared to other, cheaper furniture I've put together. Terminator 2 had started on TV and was nowhere near over by the time I was done. :) That includes the unboxing and item counts/prep. As other reviewers have stated - make sure you're using the longer bolts on attaching the top, shorter bolts on the shelves. The simple instruction sheet DID NOT tell you which bolts to use for which step (see notes I made on instruction sheet.) I spent some time sorting and slipping the washer & locks on each bolt so it would be easy to just grab and hand-turn the bolts in until I was ready for the allen wrench. I was gentle and didn't over tighten and it does seem pretty sturdy.I dug through the toolbox and found an alternate wrench to use (see pics) - made a huge difference with hand pain so use'm if you got'em. Still waiting on my chair (may be lost?) and I need to find a solution for containers that will look nice AND be useful as drawers. I'm a pen collector (addict) and like to have a variety at hand. The shelves are a good but awkward size. Also considering getting the arm attachment for dual monitors when mine come - will update my review if I do. Wire management will be the next project. And getting used to laptop swapping for work vs gaming.I also will confirm that the top is not smooth - no fine drawing or writing directly on the surface. You can even feel it through the mousepad so if you have sensory considerations - be forewarned. I pulled my gaming mousepad to the very edge - its a little scratchy - i expect that will wear away with time. There was also a bit of a treated wood-ish smell when I unwrapped the shelves. Not too bad but hopefully it will air out and go away soon.

There are some poor reviews listed for this desk that I believe should be corrected; I can't say how the desk was made or designed in prior years, but those did somewhat weigh in on my decision to buy this desk vs. some others I was looking at. ForAssembly:This desk was easy to assembly and was pretty straight forward. All parts (bolts/screws/etc.) and pieces (shelves/supports/etc.) fit as expected and had no issues. The bolts fit easily, but I will give a word of caution: they aren't labeled. If you go and start putting bolts in thinking they are all the same size, I could see how you might split or damage this desk. There are small and large bolts, which the instructions do indicate, but unless you put the bolts together to see which are the large ones or the small ones, you might end up putting them in the wrong spot. The small bolts go with the shelves, and the large ones with the desk top. The large bolts are too big for the shelves and will damage them if you put them in and try to force them. Otherwise, everything assembled easily.Materials:I was hesitant to get this desk since so many desks on Amazon seem to be particle board and even some products indicating hard wood were actually particle board when reviewers commented on them; this desk is solid wood, and has metal supports. There are a couple of pieces of particle board underneath the desk top, which is solid wood, as supports. Some parts of the boards/shelves are not perfectly smooth, but nothing too bad; it adds to the rustic look/feel and I can't say it's significant.Price:Based on the parts and ease of this desk, I'd say the price is reasonable. It could have been a little cheaper, but I can't complain too much on it. (A little over $300 when purchased).Overall:If you like the rustic look, and want a solid wood desk, this is good option!

I'd be embarrassed to tell you how long I searched for the right desk for my condo. When I finally found one I loved, it was out of stock. But then I saw this desk, and i adored it. I recently retired from my first career and I started a new one that will have me working from home. Huzzah!! So I wanted a desk that was larger than my wee writing desk, but that didn't overwhelm the condo. I love the openness of the shelves and the size of the desk. I put it together myself in about an hour. Certainly it would be easier with two people but there was only one step (hanging the side shelves on the metal posts) that had me cursing a bit. It was a bit challenging to get it into my condo. I have a small dolly, and I had to brace the desk against my shoulder while wheeling it into the elevator.My cats love it too, as they seem to believe that the side shelves are their beds while i'm working. Hardly a surprise, really. The wood gives every impression of being real wood, but I certainly wouldn't swear on that. Please note that the wood is textured so if you want to be writing on the desk, you'll need more than one sheet of paper. I tend to write in/on a note pad, so it's not bothering me at all.

This desk is the look and size I wanted with great functional storage space in the deep, open shelves. Easy directions to follow for assembly, though I did not realize the screws, if tightened all the way, could push right through the shelves. As a result, I have one broken bit that I had to position in back against the wall this is against. Once I knew, I just didn't fully tighten the screws, which kept them from busting the MDF. I was worried this might influence how stable the fully-assembled desk would be, but it doesn't seem to have made it any less solid. No wobbles, pretty, functional - just be cautious while assembling.

Es muy bonito, el acabado rústico le da el toque perfecto en mi opinión. Es relativamente sencillo de armar, pero son necesarias dos personas. La relación calidad precio creo que es buena, pero ciertamente puede existir un mejor producto que este a mejor precio. El único inconveniente que veo ahora que he pasado meses con él es que acumula polvo en los detalles de la parte superior, es necesario limpiar con una aspiradora o aire comprimido. Resiste buen peso pero se mueve fácilmente, por lo que recomiendo mantenerlo junto a una pared. No lo recomiendo si se va a comprar para un niño o una persona poco organizada ya que todo el desorden de las pequeñas repisas que tiene en los laterales es visible.
