Deliciously Delightful Recipes...
I'm not vegan but I love raw vegan snacks! Having been making smooshed date balls and simple slices for the past few months, I really wanted to get creative and see what else I could do with nuts and fruit. It's all sweet recipes in this book including big, lavish looking desserts and individual snacks. Recipes are separated into sections: cakes & cupcakes; bites, bars & cookies; pies & tarts; pudding & ice-cream. The instructions are genuinely easy to follow and there aren't too many steps for most of the recipes. Lots of the recipes are layered so you work on each layer and assemble as you go along - sometimes it's just as simple as blending all the ingredients together and pressing into a pan before working on the next layer. It's simple work but the effect is striking at the end and everything tastes delicious! If you're already vegan or health conscious, you'll probably have a well-stocked kitchen cupboard already. Staple ingredients used in a lot of the recipes include: dates, raisins and other dried fruits, a variety of nuts, oats, coconut oil, cream & milk, desiccated coconut, cacao butter, cacao powder and liquid sweetener (e.g. brown rice syrup, agave syrup, coconut blossom nectar etc). I've not noticed any obscure ingredients yet and everything you need is readily available in supermarkets or online on Amazon and elsewhere. In terms of fancy equipment, I would say that it would be very useful / essential to have a food processor and blender at hand if you want to properly make the recipes in this book. If you don't have a food processor, I think you could get by with just a blender for the very soft or wet ingredients and just hand chop / smash things like dates and nuts before combining them in a mixing bowl - it won't be as smooth (or as quick) as with a food processor (especially for date-based recipes) but at least you can make the recipes and join in with the fun!I love this book and use recipes in their entirety as well as just taking bits from things I know work well (cheesecake bases for example) so I can use them with other (vegan and non-vegan) recipes I already have. If you want to start making desserts with blended nuts and dried fruit etc, this is a highly recommended and useful one to have - whether you are vegan or not!

Awesome Book!
This book is amazing! The recipes are very easy to follow and make and the results are absolutely delicious! My husband is a very tough critic who tells me to not even bother to make dessert if I'm not going to do it right and put enough sugar into it. Well, the desserts that I have made from this wonderful book have had no refined sugar in them, using sweeteners such as dates, maple syrup, etc. and I have received lots of compliments from him as well as my father in law who is of the same opinion as my husband- things should have lots of sugar to taste good. I really thank the author, Emily von Euw, for putting together a book for people who love desserts and can enjoy them guilt free or without having someone like myself give them lectures on how bad they are for them to be eating them! I love that my husband and I can enjoy them together and that the ingredients are actually good for him. Thank you!

Absolutely delicious recipes -- with gorgeous photos!
I wasn't familiar with the This Rawsome Vegan Life blog before I pre-ordered this book back in the fall, but love raw recipes, and ordered it on a whim. I am so happy I did! If you like cookbooks with lots of color photographs and amazing recipes, you will love this! The book is divided into the following main sections:* Introduction* Cakes and Cupcakes* Bites, Bars, and Cookies* Pies and Tarts* Pudding and Ice Cream* Basic RecipesEmily von Euw, the author, listed a complete list of the recipes on her blog, so I'll post that list at the end of my review since it's rather long. I own a small collection of raw cookbooks already, but, as you'll see once you look over the recipe list, I think that this one has some really unique flavor combinations that made me so glad that I took a chance on it!Since I just got the book today, I have only made one recipe myself -- the Chia Vanilla Pudding -- but I've also had the chance to taste the Carrot Cake with Cashew Cream Cheese Frosting and the Jungle Pie (which features bananas and coconut with a chocolate drizzle on top) since one of my good friends got her book yesterday on her Nook and made them last night. Lucky me -- for she brought me a slice of each today at work! All three recipes have been absolutely delicious! The Introduction is just a quick two-page set-up about the author and the book, and from there you jump right into the recipes. All of them are gluten-free and vegan, so they're also free from dairy and eggs. Each recipe has a short "blurb" about it, and then the step-by-step instructions are clearly laid out. There is no nutritional information given, but that personally isn't a deterrent for me when I'm ordering a dessert cookbook. :-)What I also love are the gorgeous, full-color photos that accompany each recipe. I personally love cookbooks that include photos since they inspire me to want to make the recipes -- and these are so good that I think I gained five pounds just from looking at them! ;-)Like other raw recipes, these recipes also require easy-to-find ingredients, like raw nuts, oats, dates, seeds, coconut oil, fresh fruit, etc. You'll also want to have a good food processor on hand to make the recipes. Also unique is that even though a few recipes call for nuts, van Euw -- unlike other raw food cooks -- has specifically moved away from them exclusively as the foundation of her recipes, and uses oats and buckwheat groats in their stead. I really like this it will cut down on the fat content and make me feel less guilty about indulging.I also want to mention that the special binding on this is fantastic; when you open it up, the pages lay flat and don't close on themselves, which makes it such a pleasure to work from. Some other really good raw dessert cookbooks that I like because of their simple and yet tasty recipes are Ani's Raw Food Desserts: 85 Easy, Delectable Sweets and Treats, Practically Raw Desserts: Flexible Recipes for All-Natural Sweets and Treats, and Pure Pleasures Cupcake Heaven: Raw Food Sweets That Make Your Heart Skip a Beat. When I eat treats from these books, I feel like I'm indulging in foods that not only taste good, but are good for me since they're plant-based.This is a great book, and one that I know I'll use a lot! Finally, I'll end with a complete list of all the recipes, as copied from the This Rawsome Vegan Life blog.Cakes & Cupcakes· Cashew coffee vanilla crème cake with cinnamon chocolate crust· Super
