I am an amateur indoor gardener and I've been successfully starting vegetables and herbs from seed for about 7 years now. I've tried just about every DIY trick you can think of to start seeds and I've never had any issues. My seeds usually are at 95-100% germination rate. So when I ran out of a bag of Rapid Rooter plugs I decided to give this brand a try since they were about half the price.I will never buy this product again! I spent 6 weeks and 8 separate attempts trying to sprout seeds in these plugs and I'm at less than 10% success rate. I tried boiling the plugs first, using distilled water, using a heating mat, not using a heating mat, and no matter what I try my seeds won't sprout. So next I thought maybe my seeds went bad. It can happen if there's to much mostiure or the seeds get old. So I tried sowing the same seeds into some potting soil and POOF! I've got seedlings. I then purchased a new bag of Rapid Rooter plugs and used the same humidity dome and seeds as the other plugs and I'm back up to 95% germination.I don't know if these plugs are to dense or if the material they are made out of is garbage but I spent a LOT of time and energy trying to figure out that these were junk. Don't waste your money on these just because they are a few dollars cheaper. Just get something good that will work.

They arrived in great condition. However I gave 4 stars due to packaging. They were sent in a cardboard box with shipping label attached, but the box they ship in is the packaging. They require some soaking to rehydrate, and are still decent seed starters.

For the life of me, I cannot grow anything from seed unless I use these plugs. They are excellent and I’ve referred so many many friends and they love them also.

I was hoping to use these to start leafy greens. So far, I've yet to have a seed germinate. I wanted to move away from fiberglass, but the same seeds germinate just fine in the rockwool, but no joy in the starter plugs. I may try them with cuttings, but a bit disappointed at this stage.

seceptable to mold and rot

I'm not sure if I'm using this wrong, but I planted about 3 weeks ago and none of my seeds sprouted, even if the germination periods were from 7 to 14 days.

I tried 2 other brands and they had 100%failure rate. I tried these, and havent lost a seedling since!!!!! The picture with this review says it all. Thats a 10 day old seedling with massive vertical and lateral root growth.
