if you buy at same time as desk, attach to desk before dedktop.
I got the glass top desk that this goes with. Wood in desk is not as hard asbit should be so be careful when afixing the hinged top. Instructions are for attachong this to desk once desk is completely done. Od recommend you attach before agoxing the desktop or when yoibyirn it over the desktop could come unhinged and break as mine did. Customer service is one guy so you'll have to leave multiple messages, but he did replace broken parts at no charge.
