Great multi-purpose compression socks.
At 36, I've already had 2 DVTs (blood clots in major veins) in my lifetime. Being in the medical field, I spend almost all of my work day standing. I also occasionally run. I wanted a pair of compression stockings that could handle both work and play. These fit the bill perfectly. They're excellent for at work when you're stationary, maintaining blood return to the heart and keeping edema(swelling) down. Running, they reduce my mid-run swelling I would normally experience. The black color I got looks like a nice dress sock. When ordering these, be sure to go based on the CALF measurement, not shoe size. I wear a 12 men shoe, but have a 14.5-15 calf. Medium fits both my foot and calf properly. These will stretch, so even if you feel the foot size will be too small based on your calf measurement, don't worry about it. However, if you go based on your shoe size, you may end up with it being not enough compression in the calf where you need it.

Tried to outsmart the sizing chart and I came up short...
You really have to pay attention to the sizing chart. I was a single notch BELOW the medium size so I ordered one just incase thinking it would be better to be a size up on compression socks. I was wrong. Once I had them on (still not completely easy to get past my ankle) they weren't as tight as they should be. The socks are supposed to feel very tight. If they don't, you have too big a size and you won't get the full stability/compression benefits. These seem like lighter weight socks btw. I also have a pair of Vitalsox that are a bit heavier. The difference in performance and fatigue when running with compression gear is extremely impressive to me. I'll be returning them for a small. Just for reference I am about 5'9", normal shoe size is 10 and my calf measures right around 15" (if it was 15.5" or my shoe was as 10.5, they'd suggest a medium sock). Follow the chart, you want these to be difficult to put on and noticeably tight when worn.

Great Support
I purchased the compression socks as an experiment for an ankle that has no cartilage, but pretty good range of motion. I have issues with fatigue in the ankle after walking for an extended period or standing. I found the 2XU to be much better than another brand purchased. Initially, the socks were a little difficult to pull on, at least more than normal socks; however, after some practice, I have figured out how to pull them on. I found my ankle and legs to be much better off wearing 2XU socks than normal 1/4 socks or athletic socks; in fact, I wore these socks on a 10 mile hike all day and didn't feel the normal pain in my ankle. Great purchase.
