Don’t buy if you don’t know sea words
It turns out “yacht master” is a level of competence that you get to by working through the RYA “pathways” of sailor training...This book is for people who already understand the sea people language... And have progressed through the “ranks” to the point where they’re ready to take the next step to this level...And it’s biggest failing (for me) is that it doesn’t make that clear, right at the absolute beginning. On the front cover, - even the first lines of the product description - it should tell you IN LAND SPEAK.I’m assuming the information inside is excellent. But at the minute it reads smug and condescending, because I don’t understand the language...I’m sure I will come back to this book in several years as my training and experience expands my knowledge base... but by then my particular copy will be an “earlier edition”.Never mind.Probably an excellent book if know what the words mean....

Not an exam textbook
I bought this book for the rya yachtmaster preparation - it is NOT a textbook - eg nothing useful on secondary ports. I m sure it has useful information but dont think its a text book for rya yachtmaster.

Awesome book
This is an awesome book however ideally you already should have some sailing knowledge if you’re at a day skipper level or above it’s perfect, it’ll certainly has a place on my boat

Compleate Yachtmaster guide
This book is, as you would expect, well written by its author Tom Cunliffe. It is very comprehensive covering all and more of that which you would need to know as you move beyond Day Skipper into Yachtmaster qualification. Yet the style and illustrations allow for qucik and easy understanding of each of the points, tips and instruction in each of the sections.
