That is not needed. The Lederhosen are true to size. I reordered in size 34 and they fit perfectly. There are straps in the back which you can adjust and probably gain an inch or so if you need some extra room for the beer and brats. These are 100% leather. Smells great (if you like the smell of leather). They are made in Pakistan, not China. I’ve worn them around the house to make sure there are no loose seams or buttons and everything looks real sturdy. There’s very nice satin like inner lining. Similar to what you would find in a suit. I’m very impressed with the quality. However be careful. One of the lederhosen came without the lining. I think this is a manufacturing defect. I wear a 33-34.** A: For me the waist sizing was fine (38"). Slight adjustment in the tie in back. Comfortable fit, good length in thigh. But I'm 6', so I'd suggest checking inseam. I did have a slight issue that the seller was very proactive about and resolved asap. 5 star service and I loved the product **Q: Should I use my regular pant size when ordering these or is it best to take an actual measurement?** A: I would measure the actual circumference of your favorite/best fitting pair of pants and use that. (I'm a 32"-34" waist slim 157lbs)Will the 32" short version fit better?** A: I do not own a long version, only a short version. My short version fits me perfectly. I have a 36" waist (167 lbs.). However, the trachten lederhosen that I purchased was a 38" waist, not a 36". The reason for the slightly larger size is because suspenders are used instead of a belt. The pants should fit loose so as to suspend rather than fit snugly as with a belt.
