Other reviews have said this is not stretchy, but I had hoped it would be still workable. Turns out my project needs yarn that is either stretchier or thinner. Keeping this black spool only because it'll be good for purse straps. So not a total loss where I feel the need to return it. But definitely for projects you want a sturdy structured look and feel. I can see why it's popular for baskets.

Some friends expect a baby boy, and I want to crochet a blanket; the parents love music like Prince. Purple Rain was the impetus, but all of the yarns I normally use were such girly colors. I chose the yarn for 2 reasons: 1) the color is a true purple and not a pastel lilac, lavender, or mauve, and 2) I thought that a t-shirt would be soft enough. The color is absolutely a Purple Rain purple; Prince would love the color. It is not as soft as I would have liked because the thickness when crocheted is somewhat stiff. This texture is perfect for a heavy-duty winter baby blanket. I love it!
