Great book, highly recommend. I’m not done reading this book, but I love it. I can really identify with the author and her message. It’s not about dieting it’s about feeling good about ourselves and healing from the inside out. Highly recommend

This Diet Worked For Me, I'm Sure It Will Work for You !
The diet Ms. Ray refers to has nothing to do with food. I read this book over twenty years ago and learned that persistent negative thinking was what kept the weight on me. Guilt, dreading events, postponing the inevitable, toxic relationships and lack of confidence were the culprits of my weight gains. This book changed everything for me in terms of my health and eating habits. Just understanding that I am in control of my weight, I stopped associating food with weight. I began to work on anxiety over issues I could change and then work on releasing various fears associated with them. I realized that fears are tremendous motivating factors. Once I released the fear, I was able to work through the issue and move on. I purchased the book for my daughter who just graduated college and majored in psychology. I believe she would benefit both personally and professionally from reading about the concepts this book brings to light.

After 12 years of diets that didn't work and yoyoing weight someone recommended this book to me as the only thing that worked if you want to lose weight. (I weighed 145 - 160ish). I got it, did some of the exercises, (checked in with my body and found my perfect weight to be 119 - 124)... took off to India and forgot all about all of it.Flash forward 1 year later... I had lost all the weight (without doing anything in particular), my weight went down to 122. Around ten years later I remembered the affirmations I had written from this book and realized it had actually worked for me. Ever since that time I've weighed between 119 - 124. Been 29 years now, don't do anything to maintain my weight, still weigh the same & have the same figure as when I was a teenager. Go figure. I guess it really worked.I'll tell you, it's really nice to NEVER worry about my weight, I was really tortured by that when I was fat for those 12 years.

A MUST READ FOR ANYONE THAT IS OVERWEIGHT AND WANTS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT THAT WILL LAST.If you want to change -- you first have to have a renewal of mind -- I was 170# 30 years ago -- following Sondra Ray's guidance, I gradually dropped 5# every 5 years till I reached my appropriate wt of 130 and now use a good meal plan with smaller portions of most things I like and wt has remained stable (+ or - 2-3 #)/in spite of having heart failure for past 10 years. 200+ cholesterol has stayed in 80 range using just 5mg of Atorvastin 1/2 of 10mg tab once a day. I have tried giving it up 3 times for 3 months. Each time my Cholesterol shot up without it and came back when I started it again.

THIS BOOK CHANGED MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!!!
This book was by far one of the best purchases I have EVER made. I used to have severe problems with dieting, weight, self-deprivation, working out, you name it ! This book completely and 10000% reversed ALL of that! I have now retrained my mind, body, and spirit so that I literally eat whatever I want and maintain my ideal weight! Why this book has not completely erased anorexia, bullimia, obesity, diabetes, and other food-related issues is beyond me. You have to be willing to DO the mental work and to KEEP doing it (and even though at least some results are pretty instant --that could mean a couple of weeks, months, or years just to retrain your mind)...and at times it's hard and frustrating, but WELL worth it in the end and along the way!!!!!

Cynics need not apply
This is my second copy of this book. I read it about 4 years ago and had some pretty good results, which I chalked up to my hard work and effort. After I stopped doing the affirmations, I began to spin out of control with my weight once again. Since picking up the book again, I've been using the affirmations and seeing results within weeks.As I read it, I can see many entry points for cynics. I'm a believer in the body-mind connection, and I truly believe that if you can still yourself long enough to access that place, then spectacular things can happen. Writing and saying the affirmations are powerful and I'm happy to be back on track again!

The book was recommended by Louise Hay in her 'You can Heal Your Life' book. I was slightly disappointed with some of the reasons she has given in why people become obese and I wasn't keen on the religious side of it. I wouldn't recommend it even to my peers.

Very easy to read
Very easy to read, interesting psychological point of view why we overeat or why we are overweight.....it's all about emotions and our beliefs which we are carrying from childhood. Would recommend this book for people who try to understand their eating habits and get your English better.
