Sand particles smaller than the mesh will still get through and it will not make cloudy water clear. Iuse rain barrels also, but don’t use it on any. The filter should work as long as there is good water flow and little or no restrictions. **Q: Can this be used on a drip irrigation system?** A: Yes. It filters water awesome. I use it on drip irrigation as well as a power washer as well as my sprinklers too.
