Perfect!
SO EXCITED to teach my daughter to play the piano using the same books that I used as a child in the 70's. Highly recommend these books. EASY! Teaches notes, finger placement and counting in the most comprehensive way.

Sight-Reading, Technique, & Fun!
This and the "Dozen A Day Songbook" are excellent books. I'm an adult (50 years music experience playing other instruments in bands) who needed material to improve my piano sight-reading and technique. Even though with practice I can play intermediate pieces, the preparatory book of this series was the right place for me to start for sight-reading practice. I've been using this book and the "A Dozen A Day Songbook". During practice, I play with the recorded songbook pieces. For lessons, my instructor plays a songbook piece with me. These books help with sight-reading, technique and keeping solid time playing with others. I write very few reviews but these books warrant my time to do so. They are fun and encourage me to play!

Easy book
Simple book for practicing line reading. It goes up a line, down a line.I wish they would include some piano theory or lessons or songs to learn. It's only sheet music for practice. Very easy to learn and practice.

Warmup necessity
During the lockdowns of 2020, I picked up piano again. I hadn’t played in 20 years. My piano teacher has me use this series of books for daily warmups. This is the second book I have been through. I really like this series because I learn little skills that seem annoying at the time. But then I’ll need that skill for sheet music later on and remember exactly what to do. I also like these books because sometimes you only have 5 or 10 minutes at a time to practice. These provide perfect warmups to keep your fingers and brain working.

Important exercises that kids love!
I'm a huge fan of the "Dozen A Day" series. It's an incredibly useful addition to any piano method. I would not have predicted that this book would have been so appealing to children, but I can't tell you how many times I've heard "Oh, cool. I love this book!" when I pull it out. I think it's something about the physical emphasis, with the exercising stick figures that they like. So much of a piano lesson is grueling mental exercise, that I think it's a great relief to spend some time approaching playing from a physical point of view. The tricky thing, though, is that I believe these exercises are also improving my students reading by orienting them to their C's, and enhancing their recognition of steps vs. skips. This book really fills in the gaps that modern piano methods have left open.

Exercise is fun!
My students really enjoy this book. I tell them that just as our body needs exercise to make it strong, so our fingers need exercise to make them strong! They do these each day at the beginning of practice. They get excited when they have perfected one and can add the next one! After they get them all learned, they practice the whole dozen for a few weeks...not as hard as it sounds, since they are very short! There are 5 sets of a dozen exercises in this book. I highly recommend it for every piano student, no matter the age.
