4.5 stars! I reserve my 5 star ratings to my favorite books. This one was damn close!! Out of the 10 books I read this month, this final one was by far the best one!! Start to finish it held my attention and I didn't want to stop listening! The narrator did a fantastic job as well! This story was captivating. I always try to guess the ending and I was wayyyy far off at first and then got a little closer as some pieces were put together but I still NEVER guessed the full correct plot ending. It was great! I couldn't read it fast enough! I commend A.R Torre and look forward to more books by this author! READ IT NOW!

Intriguing Murder Mystery
An intriguing thrill-ride, “The Good Lie” opens as the latest kidnapped victim of a serial killer who has already murdered six teens, has escaped to return home, naming high school teacher Randall Thompson as his abductor. Defense attorney Robert Kavin the still-traumatized father of one of the teens murdered by the Bloody Heart (BH) serial killer is certain Thompson is innocent and has taken his case.In the meantime Dr. Gwen Moore a psychiatrist treating California’s depraved menaces has been notified by police that her patient John Abbott may have murdered his wife Brooke before committing suicide. As she struggles with her failure to notify police of John Abbott’s downward spiraling mental stability which may have resulted in murder, Gwen is hired by Robert Kavin to create a psych profile of the BH killer to clear his client. But as Robert and Gwen begin a passionate affair, secrets are slowly revealed as a mother haunts the footsteps of her son fearing the repercussion of his lies as the two cases collide in a painful revelation.Fast-paced and utterly captivating intensity and suspense quickly develop with Scott Harden’s notoriety, his self-isolation from friends and phone calls to the same number; and Gwen’s discovery of Robert in her office reading her files after their night of sex. Twisting and turning tension escalates with the unraveling of lies and secrets as Gwen builds a psych profile of a serial killer who may be closer to her than she thinks. Well-developed and riveting this spine-tingling story flows seamlessly to a shocking ending with unexpected confrontations.Among the cast of compelling characters bringing the plot to life are smart, sexy, confident Dr. Gwen Moore who is secretly paranoid about her skill as a shrink; ethical, self-assured workaholic Robert Kavin the defense lawyer and father of the sixth victim; and troubled, distant seventeen-year-old Scott Harden the BH victim who escaped. Emotionally-charged with a frightened mother dogging her son's every move, even the attraction and sexual interplay of Robert and Gwen is filled with friction as they grapple with one another looking for answers.I enjoyed “The Good Lie” a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. A.R. Torre has written an exciting murder-mystery and I for one will look for more novels from her in the coming years.
