I really enjoyed this book. The characters were brilliant, it had me smiling & crying at times. Brilliant storytelling, fantastic.

Some stories come along that just make your heart melt and this is one. 7 year old Jake is trying desperately to get his Dad, Simon a girlfriend because his little heart is failing. Beth moves over from New York to the Lake District looking for a fresh start but with Beth and Simon both dealing with their pasts, love doesn’t come naturally.The story alternates between Simon and Beth and I loved everything about this story. 9 times out of 10 kids in books are usually oains in the arses but Jake is the sweetest boy and Beth’’s relationship with Jake is so cute. Simon isn’t immediately endearing however I liked how his character developed into book boyfriend material!As Simon and Beth try and repair their broken hearts from previous relationships, the story flowed naturally and I felt such a strong attachment to the characters I didn’t want it to end. There were a couple of heart in the mouth moments and a few tears but what a wonderful, moving story that makes it a stand out book for me

Sounded a good read but felt it was a bit boring.Hence 3 stars . don't think I will try another from this author.

Happy and sad story. Jake a loveable child. Easy and enjoyable read
