It is my mistake thinking it is made out of clay, even though it said in the description material is aluminum, for some odd reason I thought it was the grill they are referring to. I was planning to return it but found out need to pay return shipping, which would be half the cost of the unit, therefore I am stuck with these two pots from now on, hopefully I will enjoy them eventually. So look for something else if you want the real Japanese clay pot.Update: Just used it today, everything is fine except the wooden tray is burned, almost to the point that it burned right through! The heat is so intense that even though I have put an additional thick wooden cutting board underneath, the table top gets very hot.
