Do these headphones have surround sound?

No. Well balanced is how Yamaha describes. My daughter uses them and she likes them they seem to be very good for the price.

Someone uses the mt5 with an iphone on any cellphone? do they work ok?

Of course. You do have to have the correct plug, if the cellphone does not accept the plug on the earphones... But they work GREAT on any audio headphone signal!!!!
