I recently purchased the 6 lb bulk carbon charcoal filter media pellets for my aquariums, and the results have been outstanding. The pellets are clean, uniform in size, and easy to load into filter bags or canister trays. Right away, I noticed clearer water and a noticeable reduction in odors—exactly what I expect from high-quality activated carbon. What I really appreciate is how long the media lasts. Even in heavily stocked tanks, it continues to keep the water fresh for weeks before needing replacement. Because it comes in bulk, it’s also much more cost-effective than buying small prepackaged bags, especially if you maintain multiple fish tanks like I do. These pellets have worked perfectly in both my canister filters and HOB filters, and they don’t create excess dust when rinsed. The fish seem happier, the water looks great, and maintenance has actually become easier. Overall, this bulk carbon media is a fantastic buy—high quality, long-lasting, and affordable. If you want cleaner, clearer water in your aquarium, this is an excellent choice.

This one is a little tricky. My purpose purchasing this item is to use in 3D printer filter. Bento Box and the X1C built-in filter. And if you don’t know, if the carbon acid washed, it will slowly corrode metal parts of your printer which is not desired. The seller doesn’t care to reply questions about if it’s acid washed or not. It comes in a generic box and inside plastic bag and inside the plastic bag a mesh bag filled with the product. To check if contains any acid or residual acid, first, I dissolved some baking soda and poured 7-8 sticks of this carbon pellets. It didn’t fizz even a bit. But if you search for how to check, you will find that baking soda test will only give information about surface acid of the pellets. A more extended test is done by putting some pellets after misting some water (couple of water sprayings) in a container and warm up to 40°C in a sealed container while blowing air in the same container. Placing some steel parts like bolts and nuts where the air exists after passing through the pellets will give you the info what you need if it is acid washed or not. I just completed this test in my filament dryer (sovol sh-02, 40°C, 24 hours). The yellow container you see in the photo is filled with pellets. Warm air comes from the bottom and exits from the top of the container where I placed some steel screws, and an allen key. After 24 hours not even a slight rusting occurred, so the package I received is so far seems safe but, yes there is a big BUT (no pun intended :D) that doesn’t mean the seller will send the exact same product to everyone or the manufacturer makes acid free products. Maybe I got lucky. So, I don’t accept any responsibility, buy at your own risk if you buy, do your own test or buy a different product or wait until the seller confirms. Why 3 stars? I had to go through these testing and the seller didn’t bother to answer not only me, nobody’s question about if the acid involved in the production. I insisted on this product specifically because of the form, it comes in pellets and will not fall through the filter. There are known “acid free” products on Amazon but they are pretty fine which is a deal breaker for me.
