I have used this mostly for work positioning and fall restraint on a metal roof that is steep enough that you just can't walk around on safely. Also have used on shingled roofs working close to edges. I'm not a fan of heights anymore and being restrained or being able to position myself feels really good using the side D rings on my harness. The rope grab works OK. It is a manual grab so you have to loosen and slide it up or down the rope as you move for work positioning. The clips seem to be good quality and can be worked with gloves on. If I needed the combination again (ie: lifeline assembly) I wouldn't hesitate to buy again. Think about how much rope you actually need also. When I clip on at the peak the rope (50 ft) for my roofs is a little long. However there have been times when I have had to clip on to something sturdy on the other side of the roof (no roof anchors) and glad I had the extra length. Compared to one trip to an emergency room this is really cheap insurance.

I’ve used it a few times to go on my super steep roof, works great so far. It seems well manufactured. The piece you use to adjust your length is easy to use. I feel comfortable that if I loose my footing or grip, along with my harness, this will keep me from rolling off the side. I use it on my 3 story roof. Of note, I have anchors installed on my roof so I can clip into them. I don’t use this by wrapping it around something or clipping it on anything else. The hook used to snap onto the anchor I can operate with one hand if need be, for example I’m using the other hand to brace myself on the roof for safety.

As a part-time DIY roofer, I rely on the lifeline particularly when near roof edges or a steeper pitched roofs. I did add an edge protector sleeve to prevent fraying of the rope at the roof eave.
