Kicker 46CSS684 CS-Series CSS68 6x8-Inch (160x200mm) Component System with .75-inch tweeters, 4-Ohm (Pair)

I installed these speakers in a early 2000s Ford Ranger. I wanted to keep the factory head unit to deter theft, but wanted to add a discrete tweeter component to improve the sound. I measured and cut a hole in the door cards to mount the tweeters up high for better staging. The midrange speakers bolted right in to the existing locations. I cut and spliced the factory wiring and was good to go. I appreciated the tweeter boost feature, but found the +0dB setting to be most agreeable. These speakers don't provide much bass response, which is to be expected for a midrange driver. I built a subwoofer box to add bass and hid it behind the seat, and also added sound deadening material all around the cab. I now have a decent audio system in my daily driver that looks minimally different from the factory setup.

This set was very easy to install and has wonderful sound quality. The vocals are smooth and the woofers have enough punch to feel it on your legs. They were a direct drop in replacement for 2015 Expedition component front set and took maybe 10 minutes per side including pulling the door off. The set does require some wiring modifications on the tweeter side, and an adapter on the woofer side. The crossover was not used.

Sounds good when set up right, only real gripe I have is the tweeter mounting isn't all that great.

I installed these 46CSS684's in my Ford Fusion 2009 and they were so easy to install! It took only 2 hours to install it myself with no problems what-so-ever. Guys these are much clearer than my stock speakers but I wish they had as much bass.... In the end I can't say too much without putting an amplifier. Hopefully they bring these to life. Btw I don't know much about car audio. I just YouTube everything.
