The product seems to be a very good quality purchase. It was not as good as some leather leashes I've seen in retailers, but I was happy with the quality for the money. I do have to purchase a different leash however, this one was just too thin and the hook too small for my 82lb lab...but that is the fault of the purchaser, not the seller. I wasn't paying attention to which item I ordered in terms of dimensions. I recommend the product, as long as it is for a smaller dog. I would say one that is 30lbs or less. Look to one of the thicker ones for dogs that are bigger. I will be going with a 3/4" or 1" thick leash instead. ***Update. I requested a return for this, but Amazon didn't want to trouble me with having to send it back so they just refunded the money. Charlie's leash broke last week and I ordered a new one, so I used this one once while waiting for the new one to arrive. NO WAY should this be used for anything other than a small dog, as I mentioned above. The quality of it seems good, but it was way too thin for a dog as big as mine and I didn't feel safe using it with him at all. I have gotten a new leash...so now I'm going to take this one and donate it to a local rescue organization for use at their facility for the smaller pups.*** **I also found that I just don't want a 6 foot leash for city type walking with my dog, just easier to control on a 4 foot with the traffic.**

I included two pictures to show the quality of the stitching and leather on the new Latigo leather leash compared to my old leather leashes. One of the two leashes is nearly 20 years old. Can you tell the difference? You might if you look really close to see where the stitching on the older leash is starting to fail. I can't tell you for certain that the older leash is a Latigo, but it sure looks and feels like one. The new Latigo was a bit stiff at first but with regular use it feels as supple and soft as the older leather leash. For superior comfort and control, a leather leash is worth every penny. Whether I'm walking or training, doing so is much more enjoyable with a leather leashes. I expect twenty years from now the new Latigo leash will look just as good as it does today.

One star means "I hate it". "I think hate is a strong word, but this leash was sadly not for my pup and I. We really can't give this a two star because we would be lying. My puppy is seven months old Shiba Inu. A medium dog not yet grown into his paws. I've only had this leash for about three days. On the third day, Frodo managed to chew through his leash and run free on our walk. I was terrified, but I didn't want to provoke him into speeding out into a road, like we were playing tag. I managed to get him out of the road and back to me with the promise of treats, thankfully and he was quite safe, only a bit smug he managed to escape my clutches for a few moments haha. When I first got it, the material was really stiff, I figured it would only soften in time once we used it, like our other leashes. It sort of hurts my hand when Frodo pulled a bit too hard because it was so new. "Its material is known for its strength and exceptional durability and is the choice for professional trainers" I'd have to disagree. If my small Shiba could chew through this, with his new adult teeth, I don't quite recommend this to any dog owner. I'm sorry, it really is a nice looking leash though, but only just that.

This is my go to leash. I have used one for the last fifteen years and it is just now that the leather above the clasp is deteriorating. I purchased this one to replace the first. The leash requires a great deal of break in time, oiling, softening by working the leather bending it over and over. It is worth the effort! When broken in you have a soft but very strong leash. I can roll it up and put it in a pocket. Easy to toss in a purse. I use it for obedience training, daily walks etc. I have 60 lb. dogs and enjoy how light weight it is and I never worry about the strength of the leather. Quality product! Highly recommend.

Leather has held up beautifully ... but the hardware gave way. I have owned this leash for almost three years and it has had heavy use in rain and shine each and every day walking my energetic (but only 24 pound) Border Terrier (we walk on average 4-5 miles per day in city and in country). I have been extremely happy with the leash - until this afternoon when the clasp separated from the leash - not, mind you, due to a failure in the leather or in the stitching, but in the hardware itself. I was extremely surprised to find myself holding a leash that was no longer attached to my dog's collar. Fortunately, I realized the problem before my dear dog realized he was fully at liberty.

I have a Great Pyrenees puppy, six months and 60 pounds. She'll get much bigger and this leash will be perfect as she matures. It is high quality made of durable leather that feels like it will provide many years of use. The latch is very well made. It looks great and feels good when we are walking. I was looking for a leash that is four feet long by one inch wide which is hard to find. This leash totally exceeds my expectations.

Exactly what I was looking for - I unstitched the loop very easily (with knife) to be able to use for training purposes I oiled to soften up even more but wasn’t required- just personal preference- nice and light and snap isn’t a weak snap- good quality

Very poor quality leather for the price. Same leash slightly better quality sold local at half the price.

This is a perfect leash for my small dog. Supple and sturdy.
