Recommendations I saw indicated a body position of the head being aligned with spine rather then the head in a 'bent down' position. I needed to add another small dish on this table to make that body position happen for my cats. As pictured the indention is only .5 to .75 of an inch. If you turn it over it is deeper, but there are several supporting bars that would make efficient cleaning a bit more difficult. **Q: Can you stack these “tables” to create a higher feeding surface? My cat has megaeaophagus needs to eat upright.** A: Sorry, they do not stack. I already had another slightly elevated dish that fits on the 6 1/2" surface (with room to spare).
