Generally speaking, a good product. However, needed to wait a minimum of 2 hours to notice a result. Even though it is marketed as an alternative permanent allergy causing hair coloring, still can cause a great deal of discomfort and allergy but with a much less severity.

I’ve become allergic to hair dye and have severe reaction. This was not the case two years ago, but somehow once you become allergic there is no reprieve. Every time I use hair dye now, the allergy becomes more and more severe. I have tried countless products including organic and those that claim no PPDs, etc. Unfortunately for me, nothing has worked in this long arduous search. Meanwhile my grey roots (on black hair) have become a constant struggle. I’ve even resorted to the daily touch up that washes off before the day is out and leaves fingers with dirt 😞. Most of the products I’ve tried have had effect on coloring my hair but not the stubborn grays. Also, I’m sure folks here know that incredible annoyance of prepping hair coloring. I decided to try Surya. I also combined in with Natur Vital Hair Coloring Mask. Surya is pre mix cream. That’s a great bonus. I really need help for root touch up..the stubborn ones that don’t change color. Since I’m afraid of allergy, I applied in a way that will minimize touching skin. 1) I applied Surya on dry hair. This way I really see which stubborn grey I needed to target. Also, I think for me, damp hair, ends up allowing the dye to travel to my skin faster...and more irritant. 2) I used a mascara brush ( I cleaned out one from mascara in my make up kit). This really allowed me to get to the strands that require attention. This may seem like a lot of time but actually target the problem areas is a very efficient way to solve for my problem 3) I left the Surya solution in my hair (covered with cap) for two hours. I’ve read enough reviews here saying that less time seems to have no good outcome. I would have gone longer but had to be cautious as I don’t know if I will have allergic reaction. 4). I rinsed throughly after 2 hours. 5) after rinse, i applied Natur Vital (same black color) coloring mask to all my hair to help balance the color and shine since I only used Surya to touch up. Natur Vital Coloring Mask is great and it colors the hair but not the stubborn grays . I left this coloring mask on hair for just 15 minutes. 6) I rinsed thoroughly . Results: when I blow dried my hair 90% of my stubborn greys were covered! I see were I could have targeted better the strands that didn’t . My hair is shiny and bouncy, and no evident grays. I am on day three and no sign of fades. I am sure it will fade sooner than the chemical dyes. However, this regimen is easy compared to all I’ve tried and no complains. Best of all I have had NO allergic reaction. That is the best relief of all. Maintenance: I have the Natur Vital black color shampoo and also the coloring mask I can use as often as I want. Since Surya is resealable, I have plenty of it to touch up my roots anytime I want with a handy mascara brush. So even though Surya seems expensive, for me it’s not because it will last a while for the touch up method.

This is one of those products that requires MUCH longer process time than recommended. It states 60 minutes for gray coverage however it really requires 5 and I am NOT exaggerating. I purchased the black and the first time I used it, I followed the directions and put it on for 60 minutes. it did absolutely nothing for my hair. Left my gray hair 100% UNCOVERED. Then I read online that most Henna hair colors require 4 to 6 hours for grey coverage. I purchased it again because I wanted a more natural way of coloring my hair. I left it on for 5 hours and my hair was perfection!!! The most beautiful shiny black! I got compliments every where I went. 5 hours is a major commitment but the results are fabulous. I also purchased the surya shampoo and conditioner and they all work perfectly together. This product did not damage my hair at all!! It actually left it softer than before. I highly recommend this hair color however it takes a really long time to get results. Also, because it stays on for so long, when you wash it out it kind of feels like sand...not a big deal, washes out easily. It takes a bit longer than traditional hair dye to completely rinse out but nothing major. My original review was in 2021. Just a warning, after many uses, your hair will have a red tint to it. It won't be red per say but will definitely have a red/burgundy tint to it in the sun. Some people will like that color and some won't so just letting you know what will happen with prolonged use. Surya Creme Henna is soooo easy to use. You can just do roots after you stain your hair with it. Your hair will be beautiful. Mine is very ling and very dark, you wash, towel dry, apply, and relax for as long as 2 hours. Surya does not burn or have chemicals, no PPD, it actually makes your hair healthy. Yes it is semi permanent, but worth the work, if you wash often, you can even run it through the roots, between washes, by diluting itt, and leave it in, very safe. Unscrew the top and gently warm ( not hot) it in the microwave it really sinks in then! This vendor LY….is great too. I ordered lots. Unbeatable price, and the boxes are shrink wrapped! Keeps the product fresh longer. The expiration date was very long too, no short dates. Amazing Vendor amazing Amazon as always! I am a happy Amazonian.

Waste of money. Did not cover any of my gray hairs! Literally looked like I did not color my hair at all. Very disappointed
