I have used these pens on rock, glass, cork, paper, ceramic and now plastic, they work great! I will always recommend doing a test on whatever material you will be using, if at all possible, just to be safe. Comes off with rubbing alcohol if you make a mistake ;) **Q: If using to paint rocks which will be left outside does the painted rock need to be baked or sealed to be permanent?** A: It is an oil base paint so it does stay on the rock but if you want to make it last for a long period I would suggest you use a clear coat to seal your work on the rock Mike **Q: You mention ceramics, will it work if used on bisque ware and fired in a kiln to cone 5?** A: How can an something described as an “acrylic paint” pen possibly make a mark that will survive firing in a kiln? The lack of a direct answer to questions on this point (the manufacturer or seller implies that it can be kiln fired but dies not give specifics) leads me to believe that it’s buyer beware if you want to try this product on ceramics you then fire, There are plenty of other products that will work.
