I can hear again! *by M***I on Reviewed in the United States on June 20, 2016* I was diagnosed by the audiologist with moderate hearing loss and cannot afford the outrageous prices of prescription hearing aids, and my health insurance does not cover them unless the hearing loss was caused by injury or disease. Mine is caused by "too many birthdays" the otolaryngologist told me.....I decided to try this, based on reviews by others, and am so glad I did. I did not realize how much I was not hearing until using this little gem. What a difference! Being skeptical, I only bought one, to see for myself if this would work well for me. I have been wearing it for a week now and am totally impressed. I use a teeny bit of lubricant at the opening of the ear canal, and that makes wearing the amplifier so comfortable that I almost forget that it is in. It is also very discreet, almost invisible (even with my hair up) and the hearing quality has far exceeded my expectations. I just ordered a second one for my other ear. I do not mean to sound like a commercial, and was not paid for my opinion or given a free sample or anything, just took my chances, but I am so grateful for this and hope my reviewhelps others who have hearing loss to be able to hear again.UPDATE: The battery that came with it lasted one week. I panicked and thought the hearing amplifier was broken! When I replaced the battery it worked again, and apparently the new battery was much stronger, as I had to adjust the volume downwards because it seemed much louder than before. I scouted around online and it appears that hearing aid batteries do not last very long --- anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. This is not the fault of the appliance, but just the fact that the battery is tiny and thus can only hold so much power. If you take the battery out each night before bed and re-insert each morning, you will prolong the battery life. I would also suggest getting good quality name-brand batteries rather than generic and checking that the expiration date is a long way out.UPDATE, ONE YEAR LATER: I am still using my amplifiers and still totally happy with them! A friend of mine got hearing aids from an audiologist that look a lot like mine and function just as well, but she paid over $2,000 each for them. She states, "I get free batteries for life".........
