Will this work with a Source brand hydration system? I have the 3L Source used by the military and it has the o-ring style quick connect

The Sawyer Fast Fill Adapter is usually used with the Sawyer Squeeze Water filtration system. I provided a YT address below to show exactly how the FF adapter is meant to work with any hydration bladder.Personally, I prefer the Sawyer 3-Way Inline Water Filter for use with hydration bladders but I think you'll still need an additional male end for the top attachment. Also, consider the Sawyer Mini filter. Each Sawyer Mini @ $20, lighter then the Squeeze or the In-Line, reportedly filters 100,000 gallons. You just slip the ends onto the cut drinking hose without the need for any adapters at all.There are many videos re: this particular topic so best bet is to look around on YT. Does the female quick connect automatically stop water flow when it is disconnected?

No. There is no check valve of any kind in the mail or female end.

Can this be used for the mini filter?

Yes, check the 5-star review from "rick" on May 26, 2015. He has pics of the setup with his Sawyer Mini. It comes up as the first listed review for me.
