I have had it on for hours and it has yet to shut off on it own. However, I have EXTREMELY cold feet in the winter and this has been the absolutely best thing I could have ever gotten! Wish I had this 10 yes ago!! **Q: Does this model actually have the knob at the top of the foot rest? That is what we want** A: Hello LR, Yes, there is a sturdy knob at the top of the panel. Three settings -"off, foot rest, and heating panel." There is a red light which lets you know when the unit is on. After a year and a half or so the bulb goes out on the led so you have to remember to shut the unit off when not using it. C **Q: There's an option to buy the temperature control switch cord, does it not already come with this cord?** A: The one I bought a year ago did not come with any temperature control switch cord. It has a dial-type switch on the footrest with three settings, marked OFF, FOOTREST, and HEAT PANE. These can be translated to OFF, LOW, and HIGH. I have always used mine as a footrest, never as a "heat pane," or shin-warmer, so I never change the setting from the footrest position. What I did was buy an inexpensive foot-operated on-off switch that I put right next to the heater. (My heater is under my computer desk on a cold hardwood floor.) For me, that works perfectly. Even on the footrest setting, if I'm just wearing socks or barefoot, the heater can get uncomfortably warm. It's handy to have that switch just inches away that I can tap with my foot to turn the heater off for a while. **Q: I am short & use a 6 inch foot rest when at my desk. Will I be able to use this product comfortably without foot rest? I am assuming it tilts 5 inches max (correct?)** A: The unit is not as high as most foot rest if you have a safeco brand that adjust on a post this will not give you that kind of height. A basic adaptor won't work for this product.However, it arrived promptly, it's light, and looks easy to use. I would have very much liked to have used it.I asked for a return and refund and this was dealt with promptly. There was a bit of confusion because I didn't use the correct return label meaning there was a delay in getting my refund. However, once I raised it with the vendor it was all sorted very quickly and with good grace (especially as the delay was my fault!) ### ⭐ Fired Hazard! *by K***T on Reviewed in Canada on 17 November 2020* I was smeeling something bad in the house not able to figure out what is was until I looked at my feet warmer.it was melting and almost melt my floor mat in fire.I tried to contact the company but they did not reply to me. ### ⭐ Broke only after 3 months of use. *by A***Y on Reviewed in Canada on 22 March 2019* Max heat reaches a good heat level for my feet. Not quite as hot as their other heat pads but still good. The product is quite light so I find it moves around a bit if my feet shuffle around. The legs feel a bit flimsy like they'll collapse inward but it hasn't happened to me yet even though I've read in some reviews that it has. I've only had for 2 months but very happy with it so far.Update 17 OCT 2019.I purchased this back in March 2019. Used it for March and April (2 months), then again from mid September to mid October (1 month) and it has completely stopped working. For perspective I use it about 3-4 h per day on the LOWEST power setting. I use it from my chair so no real weight on it. Now only the light comes on but it no longer heats.Given the $65 price this is terrible lifetime. I will exercise my warranty to try to eek another 3 months out of this product so that its not a total waste. I will give the company benefit of the doubt, maybe I got part of a bad batch.
