Anything you can stick into a socket (a ratchet, an extension etc) will fit into them. I used a 3/8" extension on the size I needed and the wrench did not fall off if that's your question. **Q: Using them for brake lines, how well does a 3/8 ratchet clear the opening? Do you have to use a 3/8 breaker bar with them?** A: Did not use on brake lines. I used them on power steering lines **Q: Are they offset ? If you flip them over can you get a different bite on the fastener** A: They are offset but clearance around nut or bolt may inhibit how far you are able to rotate with each bite. I changed out a power steering high pressure hose with mine.
