Installed this over a 1-gang exterior box and it’s exactly what you want for an in-use cover. The housing is solid, seals well, and doesn’t feel like brittle plastic that’s going to crack the first cold winter. The horizontal/vertical mounting flexibility is a big plus, and there’s plenty of room inside for cords without forcing the cover or stressing the seal. Gasket fits properly, screws tighten evenly, and everything lines up the way it should — no fighting it during install. Rated Extra Duty for a reason. Once it’s mounted, it stays closed, stays sealed, and does its job. Costs a little more than the cheap covers, but this is one of those “buy it once” items that’s worth it. Would absolutely use these again.

The protective cover looks of good quality. I watched a YouTube video to be sure. I understood how to install it in the video. The person just pops out the space where the cords would come through on permanent installment I however, have not been able to get that piece to come out on the video. It just pops out with their fingers. Mine will not do that. I have done everything but tear the box up to try to get that piece out for permanent court installment. Very frustrating something so little could cause so much problems. I’m back updating after installing two of these covers on my outside plug-ins. The piece that’s supposed to pop out. I finally got out and the other one I didn’t have that problem so it was just sort of a one off. Otherwise they were easy to attach and now my outside plug heads have better protection from weather and are safer for me to use.

I purchased this cover to change out the exiting cover. I was experiencing power outages due to my electrical power tripping because the receptacle was getting wet during really bad storms. So I decided to replace the cover so it would hopefully resolve the problem. It was an easy installation. The cover covers the entire receptacle and is sealed completely around the cover to prevent water from getting inside. The cover fit perfectly and look really nice. Now I'm just waiting for the next really bad rainy day to see if it holds up to the test.

Took about 5 minutes except for removing rusty screws from the old one. Works really well you need to cut and or grind a hole in the cable exit plate or just remove it. I cut then used grinder for perfect size spot to eliminate bugs and humidity from getting in.

A good solution for a more robust child-proof electrical outlet. Most AU outlet plates will be too big to fit inside so some DIY modifications are required. I recommend using low-profile outlets to maximize cable clearance.

I have installed a couple of these. There seems to be enough room for regular type cords to plug in. Weatherproof so far. Only been installed for a few weeks so cannot comment on the durability but they have seen a fair bit of rainfall with no issues
