Well Made, Effective Especially for Muscle Based Pain. Worth Trying!
After some discussions with my doctor, I finally decided to try a TENS unit to help with some ongoing shoulder issues. With the cost of deductibles these days, he said he could order one via 'normal channels', but suggested to try Amazon as there were units that work just as well for much lower prices. After reading reviews and checking features, I finally settled on this one. So, let me give you some impressions since I started using this device:-The actual product is very well made. It is solid, has held up to a few drops, and does not feel cheap. I was impressed with how well put together it is.-It has 6 'modes' for different body areas/types of pulses. These are shown in body graphics, i.e., little hands massaging, feet, head for headaches, ears, etc. on the screen. Screen glows when turned on so can be used in dark/low light. To save battery it turns off the glow after a short time.-It starts at the lowest pulse setting when turned on, and you can then turn it up to more intensity to suit your needs-It comes with a charger plug. Charge lasts quite a while. Battery use shown on the screen.-Has a timer on screen which can be set to various time segments to you do not just fall asleep and leave it on!-Comes with a quick start guide and a huge folded chart of Chinese acupressure point guides. The former is not the best written guide you will see, but it is not hard to figure out the device. Use 'T' to set the time, M to change the modes, and +/- to change intensity. The chart is interesting to look at, and if you are in to using it that way (I am not) it allows you to accurately place the pads at certain body points to address everything from upset stomach to gastric issues!-It comes with a set of small pads and larger pads. From other reviews the pads should last for a couple of months of use, and extra pads can be ordered on Amazon fairly cheaply.-The pads snap on to wire connectors that you plug into the unit. it comes with two sets of those with two snaps on each set. So, basically you can have four pads on at once. I only use one set at a time (two pads placed at two different places).-Add ons: If you buy this on Amazon you have the option to add on extra pads and gel. The pads are a good idea, but you can also buy them separately which might be a good idea if you want to see if it works for you first. The gel is to increase the current power and seal it better to the skin. Its not necessary, but if you do get it, it seems to extend the life of the pads, and also you will notice a dramatic increase in current power, so not a bad idea. Again, you might want to order this later on when you see if the device meets your needs.Effectiveness: I use this for a broken shoulder where it did not heal completely. This leads to guarding the shoulders, and since I work on a laptop it just compounds that tightness. This unit is very impactful for that. I do 20 minutes twice a day on the 'massage' setting which does seem to keep my shoulder loose and less painful. So, it does help for muscle based pain. For nerve pain, its more of a mixed bag. It does seem to interfere with the pain signals, but since you cannot use it constantly it seems to be more effective for just some shorter term relief. I have not tried it for the 1000's of other suggested uses, but I might at some point just to see if the acupressure/electric conduction suggestions do anything per the very interesting chart.Overall, I've been very impressed with the unit, and the result. Definitely worth trying out for the price!

I have a bad knee, honestly I should probably get a full knee replacement, but sadly I am far too poor.Simply walking around is excruciating, so I have used a couple of different things to help with my pain, TENS therapy has worked the best. The problem is that because I have to keep it on at all times in order to simply walk, I burn through them fairly fast. One of the things that drew me to this is the fact that it's rechargeable, thus saving me from having to constantly buy batteries, and oh my god, does it hold the charge. For the first full 2 days after I got it (fully charged), I didn't have to recharge it once. It holds a charge literally for days, while being on almost the entire time.I can see the complaints of it being "too powerful" as being a very minor complaint, because there are literally more than a dozen different settings, each with their own power settings. If it's too powerful, you're probably trying to use a setting that is stronger as a baseline. Additionally due to the ability to "lock" the remote, I don't have to worry about accidentally changing my settings while I'm walking around (a serious problem with every other TENS I've used). The fact that you can set the timer for an hour, and even change it while it's on, means that I don't have to let it turn off and then restart it, just to enjoy the pain relief.Honestly if I did have one single complaint, it would be that when the TENS turns off, you have to go through the settings to get things set up exactly how I want them again. The pads, the larger ones are honestly a little on the "small" side, but more than powerful enough that their relative size is of minor consequence.I haven't used the smaller pads, but one thing I did notice is that the connectors are "universal" meaning that all you have to do is find some large pads that you like, and you can make them work with no problem. (On a side note, I found out that the pads from the IcyHot TENS actually fits the connectors that come with the Kedsum, though I haven't bothered to try and see if those massive pads would actually work)The cords are thick, but not bulky. This is actually a really good thing for someone like me, because my last TENS had an issue with the cords burning out on me, and since they used a propitiatory cord, you couldn't even replace it when they inevitably burnt out. These cords are significantly better. In addition they are universal adaptable so just based on my own investigation, it should be quite easy to get new cords if needed.Beyond that the customer service from the company has been beyond acceptable. After having the TENS for about a week I had not bothered leaving any notifications of any sort, and the company contacted me, to make sure that everything was working as intended. I have had no complaints, and yet they wanted to see if there was anyway that they could make my experience even better. It's a minor thing, but that's kind of awesome from where I'm sitting. Especially considering the last TENS I used had serious service problems and the company absolutely refused to acknowledge any of my problems, taking weeks just to answer basic questions, and dismissing any concerns I had.Honestly I can't think of anything else at this point, but I really can't help but sing the praises of this little machine. TENS therapy is the best thing for my pain, and this unit helps my pain in ways that no other TENS unit I've had does. I walk around with absolutely no pain at all, unlike other units, where while they help control the worst of the pain, I still feel it.

Worked Great for 20 Months. Finally Quit Today.
Five stars for effectiveness. I've had it for 20 months and used it quite a bit when having lower back pain. Was very helpful post disc surgery, too. Haven't used it in 6 months. Had pain last night. Although the battery was lowish, it worked fine and provided relief. I plugged it in to charge overnight. It no longer works. Shows only half the LED screen. I estimate I used it for 100 hours or more. So am I going to complain that I only got 100 hours of use from a $29 massager? I'm not. I will knock off one star. Would knock off 1/2 star if I could. $29/100 = $0.29 an hour. But, my back hurts right now and I'm looking at the unit that could provide relief and it's broken. Boo! I'll order another.
