Does the razor have an extra blade on the back like the pro glide does for hard to shave spots?

Yes! The Skinguard has a precision trimming blade on the top of the cartridge for all those hard to reach areas.

Is Gillette doing so poorly that it can no longer include a case for its razors?

I agree with your position. However, I bought 2 plastic cases on the internet just made for Razors for traveling or for home. Good luck to you. This new razor and blade is fantastic. I switched from Gillette a few years ago to another company. They provided a case and blades were fairly inexpensive. I've now switched back to Gillette and expect I will continue with them as well. I do remember when a case came with their razor. Apparently this is a cost saving for them by eliminating the case. Bad show!

How close does this razor shave in comparison to the Fusion or Mach 3?

The SkinGuard Razor does not shave as close as the Fusion. The Skinguard gives a smother shave. This has been my experience with the two razors.

does this razor flex, do all the skinguard handles flex?

The Gillette SkinGuard handle does pivot back and forth but does not swivel like our Flexball handles do. SkinGuard cartridges will however fit onto any Fusion handle, including those with a Flexball!
