However I am sleeping on a carpeted floor with thick underpadding. So it helps. And because I sleep on the floor, I always had carpet in my bedrooms. I don’t know what it’s like on hardwood. I love my shikifuton. I recommend it to friends and family. It beats buying an expensive mattress and bed frame, not to mention the space a bed takes up, and how heavy it is to transport. I just roll up my shikifuton futon and put it in a laundry hamper to put out of the way. I have a whole couch set in my bedroom and I just move the coffee table and roll out my shikifuton to sleep. It’s great to align your back. I wake up refreshed as opposed to before when I used a mattress. I bought the large twin size 2 yrs ago for about $350.
