These were pretty easy to put together. Assembly was pretty intuitive but the instructions did help with determining the intended locations of the washers.These racks look a little shaky standing by themselves but they are pretty strong once installed on the truck.A couple of tips:Mark the center of the top tubes that slide into the 2 side pieces. That way you can easily determine if you have 50/50 engagement. You could even make extra marks if you plan to use the racks on different vehicles.Second - there is no way I am going to drill holes through my bed rails to bolt these on. (This is my personal vehicle, not a work truck.) You can find clamps made to secure truck caps and other accessories. I used those and they work great.

Bought this with the hope of transporting kayaks on our camping adventures. So far, this rack has worked great! One assembled, I can put it in or take it out of my truck in about 10-minutes using clamps (purchased separate). Due to my garage height, I cannot leave this on all the time.I added strips of rubber to the J-channel mounts to help with the cradles staying in place and not spinning on the round cross bar.While the J-carrier carriage mounting bolts are short, they DO work with a little effort (unlike what some of the other reviews state). Get one side started just a bit and then the other. With both bolts started, slowly tighten them evenly and you'll have no issues. Longer bolts would be nice however.The cinchbstraps that were included were a bit too short for my liking, so for ease & convenience, I bought longer ones for a couple more bucks on Amazon.Paint has been scratched/chipped in a couple of spots and is beginning to show signs of surface rust. Not a huge deal, but be prepared to possibly need to touch-up a couple areas each season. Overall though, this truck rack has worked well and is easy to install and use.

First off, the clamps recommended to use to attach the bars to my truck were incorrect. I had to order different ones. Depending on your bedliner, just check. Second, and more importantly, the bars all stay fitted together with these little hex screws. To my horror, I found that two of screws had worked their way out during travel! My boats were on this rack, on a highway. I was very lucky. It's a super nice looking rack, easy to install and pretty inexpensive, but just be careful if you do get this. I'd check those screws quite often.UPDATEI returned this product about a month ago and have not received reimbursement. I HIGHLY reccomend NOT purchasing this product.

I would have given this 5 stars. But, a couple things. The bolts that attach the bottom backing plate for the kayak mounts were a little short. And after we got some rain I noticed rust coming from the weep holes at the base of the rack where it bolts to the bed and it drained onto the side of my truck staining it. I’m sure I’ll get it buffed out but my truck is white. If there were a way to paint at least primer the inside that would be great. Other than that works as it should

The ladder racks look awesome, were very easy to put together.the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of instruction for actually mounting the racks to the truck, they send bolts instead of mounting brackets which is no big deal I would rather permanently mount them anyway, but there is no written instruction or at the very least the size of the bolts so I could make sure I had the correct bit size to drill the holes with. After unpacking them I was able to have them ready to install in maybe 15 to 30 minutes but without the right size bit I had to wait another day to finish the installation so I could purchase the right size drill bit.

Very very easy to assemble and install. Had one small discrepancy with all the pieces being present at delivery (2nd holder missing). Contacted the seller and they immediately apologize for the parts missing, so they are shipping me the missing holder right away. Can’t wait to get the other holder to finish my started project. We were able to buy a third rack and carry 3 kayaks at a time and still pull the camp trailer... easy to install and easy to put together!!
