Biograph Display Box

Downloaded it to my Ipod. I still have the LP I bought when it frist came out. When it came out I could play in my car. I had a album player then.

I have been meaning to buy "biograph" for some time. I heard it when it first came out on record and was hooked. I had never been a true Dylan devotee but this boxed set certainly made me sit up and listen.This compilation of three CDs gives an excellent sample of Bob Dylan's music career from his very beginnings right through to the early eighties. The production is excellent and the songs are not necessarily in chronological order which is great as it does not harp on any particular time in his music. Dylan's changing styles strangely blend together beautifully; and his words, old and later, still have a relevance in 2012. This box set is a fantastic way to listen to a musical icon (Dylan would hate that word) on his journey through twenty plus years of musical joy and brilliance. To steal a comment "thank you Bob"

This is just a great collection of Dylan songs: from his heyday in the mid-sixties to classics from the early 80's. Great stuff!

There are some rare jewels in this set that you will not find anywhere else. Trust me! --I own copies of virtually EVERY studio recording Bob Dylan has ever made, along with live albums and "bootleg series" recordings. If you are a Dylan fan, this is a MUST HAVE and if you aren't yet a fan, buy it anyway. You WILL be a lifelong fan after you listen to it! Included in this set is 'Lay Down Your Weary Tune'. It is truly one of the most beautiful, heart-wrenching songs you will ever hear. It has become one of my favorites--and I say that only because Bob Dylan has written far too many great songs to be able to limit myself to just ONE favorite! I highly recommend purchasing this set. You will definitely NOT be disappointed!!!

Some pieces were better than others, but this is Dylan, and I try to measure Dylan by his own standard, which is exceptional. To me this is yet another piece, a good piece, in his strong body of work, and that's what it's about for me. "Lay Down Your Weary Tune" was my personal favorite here, personally. Dylan keeps coming up with songs I'm puzzled he never released immediately, and is just one of many, but I guess that's just Biograph and the Bootleg Series are about--a demonstration of his amazing depth--and artistic range.

Dylan's Biograph is a necessary purchase for every real fan. There are 3 fantastic cd's and an excellent book enclosed. As a lifetime follower, after receiving the CompleteBox set of studio albums (Amazon), I decided to fill in a few remaining gaps in my collection. Thanks to Amazon, I purchased Biograph, the couple Bootlegs I was missing, Basement tapes and a variety of miscellaneous Dylan offerings. Collection complete! Even if you are just discovering Dylan (his music is timeless) Biograph is a perfect way to get started.

・本作は、元々は1985年に発売された53曲入り5枚組LPあるいは3枚組CDのボックスセットだった。選曲は“Blowin’ In The Wind”、“Mr. Tambourine Man”、“Like A Rolling Stone”の様な、良く言えば有名曲だが悪く言えばGreatest Hitsにも収録されているありふれたものから、オリジナルアルバムに含まれていないシングル曲の“Can You Please Crawl From Your Window”や未発表曲、ライブバージョンも入っている。本作が、この程随分安く再発された。・ 40ページに及ぶ解説が付いている。前半24ページはディランの生い立ちからのキャリアである。例えば子供の頃、ハンク・ウィリアムス、チャック・ベリー、ハウリン・ウルフ、ジョン・リー・フッカーなどのシングルを入手していたこと、ディランの活動初期にはシリアスな音楽が無かったとのディラン自身の自負（「当時ビートルズは“Love Me Do”をやっていた。マーヴィン・ゲイの“What’s Goin’ On”は1970年代になってからだ」）などが書かれている。後半14ページは全曲についての解説。ニコのバージョンで知られた“I’ll Keep It With Mine”は、元々はジュディ・コリンズ用に書かれたとのこと。なお、歌詞は全く付いていない。・ この値段とは思えない程しっかりした作りで、コレクターにも向いている。

輸入盤。Display Boxということで、購入してみた。輸入盤にしては丁寧なつくり。ブックスタイルで、写真も満載。３枚のＣＤがかっこよく収納でき、「ディスプレイ」の名に恥じない。もちろん輸入盤なので、膨大な資料の訳がないのは残念だが・・・作品としては1985年発表のバイオグラフそのもの。新しく追加された曲などはない。85年当時のベスト曲と、未発表曲と、未発表ヴァージョンの詰め合わせ。ベスト曲については正直何とも言えない。オリジナルや他のベストアルバムでも十分にことたりる。未発表ヴァージョンも、とくに目を引くものはなかった。おもしろいのは「いつまでも若く」のデモくらいか。ただし、例のごとく名曲をお蔵入りさせるのが得意のディラン。未発表曲の中には素晴らしいものが多数含まれている。とくに、「アバンデッド・ラヴ」や「カリビアン・ウインド」、「パーシーズ・ソング」「」「窓からはい出せ」などは必聴。ディランを好きで、持っていないなら、絶対におススメ！

maybe this is just for dylan fans i'm not sure! 53 songs. 29 from the sixties, 19 from the seventies and 5 from the eighties.dvd size - 3 cds and a 40 page booklet in the middle, in which dylan gives comments on each track. this gives a really good overall picture of dylans music. if you own no dylan then this is a good place to start. and as each track tells you which album it has been taken from it may want you to invest in that specific album. it also has in amongst the 53 songs, songs that have never been released anywhere other than here.
