There is a little holder on the end so it will not get stuck down the metal straw. **Q: Do the wire handles on these brushes bend easily? I want the handles to be very strong and not bend under pressure. Is this the case?** A: The handles are not very strong. If you force them even a little bit, they will bend. This isn't much of an issue for daily cleaning of a regular drinking straw but, if you plan to put any pressure on them, it might be a problem. **Q: Can this clean a straw of a hydro flask?** A: I don't know. I don't have a hydro flask to try it.
