Best tasting and olives are not smushed together

Soft, tender, almost melt-in-your-mouth kalamata olives. Very tasty, and the brine even delivers. It is not just a plain brine, but has the delicate flavor of Mediterranean herbs in the background. I would definitely buy again.

Mario's Pitted Kalamata Olives have long been a staple in my pantry, delivering that classic, briny Mediterranean flavor that I've always enjoyed. The rich, aromatic essence of these olives immediately transports you to a sunny Greek hillside, with their deep purple color and robust saltiness promising a gourmet experience. However, my recent jar disappointingly failed the quintessential seal check - there was no satisfying 'pop' when I first opened it, which immediately raised concerns about the seal's integrity and potential freshness. Despite my longstanding appreciation for Mario's Kalamata olives and their typically excellent quality, this particular jar left me feeling uncertain about its preservation and somewhat deflated by the missing auditory confirmation of a properly sealed product.

I like to put good olives in salads, on pizza and in baked goods. These do the job. Decent price too.

These Kalamata olives are very good value compared to other brands that you can purchase with better known brand names in the market. I found, however, that they have a large residue of tiny particles of broken olives on the very top and the brine they are packed in is very strong that can be unattractive and bitter. You should skim the residue off with a teaspon and use a small strainer over the jar and empty all the liquid. Once you clean the strainer, add water to the jar and drain them again a coupe of times until you have no residue left. As a culinary professional, I believe the residue is caused by the fact that the processor mixes different batches of firm and the not-so-firm olives in big containers that break up the not-so-firm olives into a slurry salty liquid. Otherwise, I think the product is overall very good.
