I was very concerned initially about installation and the fact that you need to make a cut put in the pool liner, however if you are weekend DIYer this would be an easy install for you (plenty of youtube videos on how to do it). The difference the skimmer made its unbelievable, I live in the dessert area and next to a major highway so the ammount of dust and small debri that accumulates in the water surface of the pool is significant, after 1 day of use with the pump continously operating (intex sand filter sx2100) I could not believe how much cleaner the water was and no bugs death in the water. The skimmer had catch everything and it was filthy, though that is proof of the excellent work that it is doing. Recommendation for installation, for optimal effeciency of the skimmer prefarable install near the corner of the pool (for rectacular ones) on the same wall in which the pump discharge is located (furthest away point after the suction), that way the water flow induce by the pump discharge will push all the dirt to the end of the pool to the skimmer. Very happy with the product and how fast it was deliver. Review: I’ve seen numerous videos online for this product and was very excited to get it. It does not disappoint! Works brilliantly in conjunction with my Intex sand filter. Great flow and great surface pull to clear debris floating on top of the water. Easily installed. Just take your time, especially with cutting the pool lining. There are two ways of cutting the lining, either before or after installing the skimmer. I chose before as it gives a much neater looking ‘hole’ but both ways will work. Watch an installation video online first to get confident. Cut the lining very slowly and carefully ( it’s quite nerve wracking 😳 ) and you will be fine. I can’t say anything negative about this skimmer as there are no negatives. It’s a great addition to any decent sized above ground pool and works beautifully. With water just below the desired level install the skimmer by using a sharp object to punch out the screw holes. Once it is installed and right THEN take a razor blade and cut out the square opening. **Q: Will the hose connections fit the intex hoses with the threaded nut? Like with the Intex 56671EG 2,650-Gallon Sand Filter Pump.** A: David, they do not fit. Intex uses odd sizing so you have to be creative. I hard plumbed my skimmer to my sand filter. On the filter side I reused the nut from the Intex hose but on the skimmer side I glued PVC to the skimmer. I know it is hard to visualize. Check out this website there is a ton of info on there. It provides the gasket for both inside and outside of the pool and also helps keep chlorinated water from contacting (and rusting) the pool wall. Butterfly = think of two gaskets which are joined at the outer edge and therefore capable of being slipped over the square pool opening; kind-of-like your index and middle fingers which meet at the bottom.
