I have a translucent pink vinyl I want to display, how would this look in the black frame? Would I need to put something behind it in the frame?

Not sure about that, I would say no to be on the safe side

Is the mount cut for the sleeve and the vinyl?

Yes , but I overlapped it a bit and stuck a photo behind the gap as it was my bands album, hope that helps.
