How is it dishwasher safe with the plugs coming out of the pan?

I don’t think the grill is dishwasher safe. The wiring is not sealed for that. Yes the grill plate does come apart from the plastic base but the plug is still attached to the grill and does not come apart. One user wrote the manual says don’t do it. That sounds right to me. But it is easy to wash.

When cleaning i kno you can not imerse in water but can the underneath of cook top get wet?? Silver part under..if wet is it ok??

Yes, but do not submerge. The easiest way to clean this appliance is to set on low heat after use. Put folded wetted paper towels on grill surface. Leave only a short time until a bit steamy. Take a dry paper towel and remove the wet ones and wipe the surface. Remove remaining residue with a mixture of baking soda, lemon juice and a few drops of dishwashing liquid. Then rinse, but be carful not to get water on the plug.

Why does it not smoke so much if its not a smokless grill?

Make sure you are using some sort of cooking spray or light oil on the items to be grilled if they do not already contain fat. Rarely do I get smoke when I cook with spray.

can i steam veggies or boneless skinless chicken thighs?

I haven't tried steaming vegetables in here but probably not, you can cook boneless chicken thighs though!
